Space - Defense Chance Diminishing Returns?

Hello everyone!

As you all may already know there is dodge chance for space as well as ground. For ground combat dodge chance is almost self explanatory and self evident in how it works. Ground dodge will reduce damage taken when it triggers and unlike space you can have 100% of it and always have a chance to reduce incoming damage. For example, if you crouch, use the Omega Reputation shield and/or use the Command specialization.

However, for space it works differently since the effectiveness of dodge is related to accuracy, and that enemies can have a minimum of 25% accuracy even if you exceed 100% dodge chance.

So here is my question for you all who may know more about than I do. Where exactly is the threshold for diminishing returns for space dodge chance? In particular for PVE content and enemies. When it is more or less pointless to put more gear and traits into increasing that dodge chance?

For example, with all the numerous traits/specialization for increasing dodge chance and whether I fly an escort my general range for dodge chance is between 100 - 140% (regardless of ship class). So when or where would it be more optimal to use, for example, a different specialization than the Intel (15% dodge chance)... and different gear of course. Based on my own observation I do not notice much difference in enemies' hit and miss rate when my dodge chance exceeds 100%.

I welcome any insightful thoughts.

I'm no expert, mind you. but if you are not seeing the results you expected. you have probably passed that "thresh hold". maybe switch to targeting, or crit %. see if that helps your dodge? just my opinion

Right now I am using the Intel specialization but I think that specialization slot may have better uses. I suspect the defense provided by the Intel specialization may have reached that threshold where increasing it is no longer useful.

I do hope they make a specialization that boosts flight speed. I was hoping the Temporal specialization was going to do that but it's sadly all about science. For ground it's great however.

With the new K-13 fleet holding around the corner I am revisiting my question about where the threshold for defense % might be in PVE. The new K-13 fleet holding will offer superior ground and space traits. This means that the Elusive (10%) trait will be see an improvement to 12.5% for its superior version. There is also the Pattern Recognition trait that provides 6% defense at 4 ticks.

With the two combined and a number of other things my total defense is 110% in a Vengeance ship. In an escort with their Tactical Maneuevering mastery trait (5% defense) that would be 115%.

Now, I wonder where the general sweet spot might once you get close to 100% defense and if there is better use of traits and specializations where ~15% defense is involved.
