A simple way to let TOS players visit the old TOS-era ESD.

I commented about this in a reply to another post, but I thought it was worth mentioning it here in the feedback forum in case a dev happens to read it:

Why not add an extra menu button to the temporal anomaly near ESD (the one that is used as a vet/lifetime reward for access to the "captain's table" starbase) so that TOS players can return to the TOS-era ESD?

If the devs really want to make TOS players happy, make it so that you have to currently use a ship with a TOS-era skin in order to visit the TOS-era ESD.

In a perfect world (pun intended) the devs could even make one TOS-era space PVE queue and one TOS-era ground PVE queue (only accessible from TOS ESD) set in that same era for TOS players.

I realize we can't have a huge amount of TOS content in this game without making things VERY complicated, but I'm hoping it would be as easy for the devs to send us to the old TOS ESD via the temporal anomaly as it is for the devs to send us to the Captain's Table starbase.

It just feels weird for my TOS-era temporal agent to be stuck in the 24th/25th century ... unless I'm replaying a mission that involves time travel.

Please, let TOS players return to our TOS ESD.
In the immortal words of Captain Sisko: "It may not be what you believe, but that doesn't make it wrong."

Don't believe the lies in this forum. I am NOT an ARC user. I play STO on Steam or not at all.

Agreed. Would like more content though...

It would be nice if I could go back and get more of those 23c versions of the boff skills too, for my TOS alt. Since they're not account transferable, it means I've had to make another alt, send it some ec through the account bank and buy as many as possible. It's quite annoying they're bound to character.

Also would be nice to revisit the 23rd century for the people who made 23c alts, commissioned a connie and forgot to commission a class f shuttle too. I fortunately have the bundle that comes with the class f shuttle, but not everyone has that option.

Remind me to stop short of the final mission in the TOS chain, so that I don't get stuck in the future.

    This sounds good to me!

I really enjoyed all the new content added in the 'Legacy of Romulus' expansion. I was really, really hoping for more with this one, which is the expansion I was the most excited about, as it comes just in time to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the 'Star Trek: 25th Anniversary' computer game.

This would be a great first step to making the Beta Quadrant of the year 2270 matter again.

Oh, that and ... let the uniforms that are available to 23rd century captains be unlocked for all that captain's future bridge officers.

Yes, going back to have access to TOS ESD would be nice.

Cryptic has a golden oppertunity to create a Tos Social hub. If they wanted. they already have the assets. And plot wise in tos there is a certain station that goes missing in the missions you do. It's "lost in time". That would be the perfect solution to a lack of easily accessable tos era esd. and you could limit it to the tos faction, the way rom's have rom command social hub on new romulas.

Let me second that. It makes me wonder if Cryptic might actually be planning something like this.

Something else I'd like to see would be an Episode built around that space station's return, possibly ending with the establishment of a gateway between it and the 23rd century — or rather, an extremely close parallel universe of the 23rd century, sort of like how the Kelvin Timeline is a close parallel. The difference would be that this parallel is only just now beginning to diverge, with the aforementioned wormhole being the cause of the divergence, and thus is indistinguishable from the original 23c save for the fact that captains don't need to worry about a Temporal Prime Directive — heck, the Temporal Cold War could be an open secret in that universe's Star Fleet. This would let captains go back to doing 23c content if they want to. And if I were lazy, I'd make a map available with hooks for Foundry content, then let TOS fans develop the content for it.

I'm not the biggest fan of TOS, but there is something cool - no, quaint - about visiting the past.

So, YEAH, Devs, let's have that social hub. o:)

I think there is a simple reason we can't go back to the 23c Sector Block or the 23c Earth Space Dock. Our ships are not supposed to contaminate the 23rc century. And I mean this in a total meta game sense, not in-universe. They don't want people with Sao Paulos, Annoraxes and with Bikini Wear running around there. The whole TOS faction is entirely about immersing yourself in the 23rd century visuals. That's why you have tight costume restrictions that are gone basically the moment you go to the 25th century.

So, the only way they would allow us to return are two ways:
    - They build a way to ensure that post 23rd century characters can never intermingle with 23rd century characters.
    - They build the tech to alter your costume to faction-appropriate visuals into those maps (or into the game).

Both sounds like a lot of work that's hardly worth it. So it will likely not happen.

Yup. This is a good idea right here for a social hub.

is there a difference between the 23rd century powers and the regular ones?
