Pros & Cons of the Tactical Star Cruiser

Very interested in getting the Tactical Star Cruiser bit would like to know what are the pros and cons about the starship. Would love to hear what from as many people as possible.

    It's probably the most vanilla ship of the Star Cruisers, meaning it's really hard to TRIBBLE up a build for it.

    The bridge officer seating is fairly lucrative, but because I prefer access to 3 science powers on nearly all my ships (Polarize Hull, Science Team, and Hazard Emitters), I was left with only the single Commander Engineer for the majority of my survival abilities (which is usually enough, combined with the Ensign Universal I threw a Science officer into).

    I used a Command/Engineer for the Lt. Cmdr. slot, and ended up putting in Overwhelm Emitters I, Concentrate Firepower II, and Structural Integrity Collapse III making the ship absolutely devastating while using Torps. The Torpedo Expose mechanics while using the Command spec tree further makes the ship's torp capabilities pretty powerful.

    Then for the Lt. Cmdr. Tac, I threw in Torp Spread III, FAW II, and Tac Team I.

    4 Engineering consoles and 4 Tactical Consoles is neither incredibly bad nor incredibly good, and 3 science consoles gives you plenty of wiggle room for a variety of builds.

    All in all, Cryptic has done an excellent job of pandering to the DPS meta with the Tactical Star Cruiser, to the point it's pretty much idiot proof unless you really go out of your way to be horrible at the game.

    I personally preferred the Science Star Cruiser for Sensor Analysis.​​
