one thing that eludes me.. DEMORECORD

i'm very curious on how it works and how do you make it to appear, save on for replay, to use a recording for variety of things like screenshot. i'm quite curious about Demorecord. i have not seen this before, yet i hear about it. can any of you tell me about it, what's it used for? thanks in advance.

Here, this should help. What is unfortunate, though, is that it's not well-integrated in the game - specifically, when logging in, there should be an option beside 'Regular Play' and 'Create Content' for 'Manage Recordings', wherein you would be able to play and manage said recordings without futzing with the command line.

If you're still having no joy finding the demo record manager, the STO launcher has a command line function (click 'Options' at top-right). In this text box, you would add:

    -demoplay demoname.demo

Save, then click 'Engage'; the demo will launch, and all the tips and cautions in the above reddit post apply.
