25th Century content?

I've only just returned after some time out so a little confused on what's going on with the next expansion. Is that only going to contain 23rd Century content or will the temporal incursion story line continue? I must stress here, I'm not interested in random encounters, I just want to know if the storyline will continue, please? I'm not entirely enamoured with the idea of creating another character and having to grind him up and would prefer to continue with my existing Admiral level characters.

All faction will get new episodes to play. I'm not sure if they're set in the 25th century (although at least a part of them has to take place there to involve our characters of course) but the storyline will progress for our older characters.

So to clarify, I do not have to create a new character if I don't want to? I can continue with the ones I've sunk time and effort into already?

You can, but you won't see the new low-level content or participate in the immensely useful recruiting event.

Absolutely - nothing changes in that regard.

Although your existing characters won't have access to the new 'Original Series' episodes that are coming with the expansion and you would need to create a new character - a 'Temporal Agent' - to play that specific content.

I'm still not getting a definitive answer here. I'm not trying to be difficult here, but yes or no, will there be new Episodes for my 25th Century characters in the next expansion, please? No foundry missions, not random encounters, not replays of existing episodes, not PvE, not PvP, brand new story based content for them? I play this game exclusively for story content, nothing else.

Yes. New episodes for your older, 25th Century characters.

Yes. You can play the new expansion without creating a new, AoY specific character.

You will miss out on some special features that a new AoY created character eventually UNLOCKS for the rest of the characters on your account. But that's just bonus stuff and has nothing to do with the content, missions or stories.

That's exactly what I was after, thank you very much. :)

You will also miss out on some story episodes that will be TOS character only. However, these will be level 1-6 episodes. So if you want, you can create a TOS character to play those 6 missions, then play everything else with your old characters.

Even if you don't want to play anything beside episodes now, it may still be a good idea to create a TOS-character. You don't have to do all the recruitment stuff now, you can complete it whenever you want, provided that you create the character within six (I think?) weeks of the expansion release.

If you ever decide to play stuff beside the storyline episodes, these bonuses will probably still be useful and at least having the option to obtain them at some point in the future would not hurt. The character slot that you need to create a TOS-toon will be free so there really are no costs involved: you can create the TOS character and use it 2 or 3 years from now and still get the recruitment bonuses, or you can create him and never use it at all.

And since there are no costs involved, I would recommend to at least create a new toon. You never know if he, and his bonuses, will be useful to you at some point in the future, but we do know that if you don't create him within the first six weeks, you'll miss out on it forever. But that's entirely your choice of course, just saying that, to have all options available in the future, it may still be worth it to at least create a TOS character.
