Specialisations

Could somebody please help me? Where do I find the specialisation books? I do not have the slightest interest in crafting, I have no skills in it, I have no interest in it, I simply want to buy the book or whatever it is. Is that possible, please and if so, where from?

Look on the exchange, under training manuals, I believe

I want to train an officer each in Intelligence, Command and Pilot. Actually, I have no idea what this stuff is all about because I see I can train myself in Commando and Strategist as well as the above.

It gives them more abilities to use besides their regular abilities. Some of them are even really useful, more useful than some others, depending on your build, I suppose.

I bought one of the training manuals (command) but the specialisation still shows grey in the skills page of the character sheet. It says I'm missing the appropriate specialisation qualification item but I don't know what that is or where to buy it?

Go to the BOFF you want to train and then their skills. There's a drop down menu at the top for the specializations. Click it and you should see it there to train them on.

No you're not getting me. It won't let me because it's missing the specialisation item but I have no idea what that item is or where to get it. The blog I read simply said it was available as a recipe for crafting. I don't want to craft, I shouldn't be forced down a crafting route, I want to buy it or the developers can bog off and I'll just not train it. I'm asking what the item is and where, if it's possible to do so, I buy it?

The item needed is the manuals I gave you step by step instructions to acquire.

How many times do I have to say this? The specialisation fields are still greyed out with that in my inventory. Let me repeat - IT DOES NOT WORK. If it did I wouldn't be asking. Nor has anyone explained how this applies to my character? Please refrain from telling me I've been told how this works because it does not work.

I'd put my money on you buying spec skill manual instead of qualification one

It is possible that you bought a skill manual instead of a qualification manual. Check and make sure.

We are trying to help, here. Mouseover it and see what it says. If it doesn't say qualification, you didn't get the right manual. I find that getting to the qualification manuals easily is to choose Ultra Rare quality on the quality drop down, as the qualification manuals are UR.

You might need to promote the officer you're trying to train.

On their character sheet, there should be an option at the bottom to promote them in rank. Try that and see if it works, but the only thing you need to do to train an officer in Command is exactly what azrael said. All you need is the Specialization Qualification - Command manual in your inventory.
