Question about "empty ground map"

Working on the "empty ground map" is particularly nice for me but is there a way to remove the 5 ft thing? I have the map built at 45 and the player leaves the structure to do something. Unfortunately, whenever they leave the structure they are struck with acres of 5ft. I tried covering it with platforms but lost the "space" effect I was going for.

Is there a way or should I just recreated the structure on the traditional maps?

Basically you have to hide it. I keep hoping it'll get replaced with an invisible floor, but hasn't happened yet.
