Envir. suit slot?

There are some missions where your captain and the away Team have to wear an Environment suit.

It's a bit of a nuissance to always unequip armor and then reequip it afterwards as you always have to check to the the right pieces of a set to the right members of your away Team.
It would certainly be Handy to have a Slot for Environment suits, that autoselects when needed. Most of us probably have a suit anyway and if not, the Mission provides one that you can drag into These Slots.

Am I the only one who gets annoyed by changing armor to Environment suis and back again?

No you are not. It is slightly annoying (there are more annoying thing though, but still), especially if you cannot continue a mission before you've put a suit on all your Boffs. Even when you plan to set a rally point for your Boffs and just enter the Tholian ship alone for example.

That's another thing I'd like to see changed: give us an option to not have Boffs with us at all.

There's a balance issue where the environment suit's stats and benefits need to be considered here. It's not just about protection from the lethal environments at a push of a button.

I am not sure if I understand you...
I was thinking, that the armor stats will be taken from the suit, not from armor, when suit is needed.

Yes, it would be nice. Its very annoying having to keep several enviro suits in the inventory just for a couple off missions. They can remove the enviro suit stats completely and just make them a visual with the on/off option.

This would be a great change. I'd like to see a slot for boots, power boards and floaters too!
  • echattyechatty Member Posts: 5,918 Arc User
I could get behind this. We don't have many missions where we *have* to have the enviro suits. Why not let us keep them equipped to another slot until needed, then just click it to activate it.

As for boots, power boards and floaters? Sure, why not? Give them their own slots too.
Now a LTS and loving it.
Just because you spend money on this game, it does not entitle you to be a jerk if things don't go your way.

Why not a swapable slot, like we have with the primary and secondary weapon slot?, would be easier, and you can slot anything you want.

Yeah. And we already have a button for swapping it, too.

Dang i thought this was gonna be about the ominous slot next to the activation button for the ev thrusters above the power tray :) but yes agree an ev slot would be nice

I like the "swappable" tech maneuver (like weapons) - mainly to address those who run around in the Nukara or Solanae suits full-time for their benefits.

And while I'd like to see slots for the event only[/I] "toys" - floater and powerboard for example, the frosted boots are useful in all seasons (see: those who use them to run all over Dyson Ground) that they need to stick in the device slots - just to cut back on "power creep"...
Detecting big-time "anti-old-school" bias here. NX? Lobi. TOS/TMP Connie? Super-promotion-box. (aka the two hardest ways to get ships) Excelsior & all 3 TNG "big hero" ships? C-Store. Please Equalize...

    That's a great suggestion. I'm down.

@crypticrock , is that even possible?, to be able to swap armors like the weapon slot?

    re: boots/etc.

We already have slots for those items - four device slots. /shrug

I think EV suits should just be made devices. The only times they're needed instead of the rebreathers (which are a device) is some Tholian content, the 2 missions (Boldly They Rode and A Step Between Stars) where you EVA (and you can put your armor back on immediately afterwards), and the asteroid mining. And of those, the only times where you're being shot at are Nukara and when you board the Tholian ship with Kal Dano (Stormbound).

also in "boldly they rode" and the one Episode with the very annoying Dr. Cooper - and the one I was doing when I thought this would be a good idea, "Stormbound" - and probably a few I missed.

decent armor - yes, but not as good as any "real" armor

Boldy They Rode and A Step Between Stars are "the 2 missions where you EVA" that I mentioned. And Stombound is the mission where you board the Tholian ship with Kal Dano that I already mentioned. And no, you didn't miss any others. All others that I didn't mention can be done with just the rebreathers you can get in that one mission where you rescue Sela from the Elachi (or earlier if you're a Romulan).

Then while they work on this can we get the hirogen armor to finally count as an environmental suit too?

I mean one hirogen clearly states he hunted something on a NEUTRON STAR!

Even nukara prime isn't that hostile a place, inside a tholian ship can't be that bad either.
Though not sure if it's ever been said what sort of temperatures and pressures are in those since nukara is 'within' the no-suits range for a tholian.
Would be nice to know if nukara prime is a tholian ski or beach resort type of place.

The Nukara suit stats are really nice when upgraded. Also you burn to death in no time on Nukara without a suit.

It would be easier just let people use them directly from inventory, like non-combat pets. Party poppers, too. Existing functionality.

Forcing players to equip stuff like that serves no useful purpose, only to slow people down when they switch between Risa and normal ground missions.
