Looking for Suggestions to Advertise Missions

Hello all,

I feel like I'm missing a critical step in getting players to see my new missions in the "Review" section of the Foundry.

Do my fellow authors have any proven methods for getting some attention for your mission?

Posting forum threads in the mission database forum sometimes helps.

A number of authors include missons that they wish to advertise in their forum signature :)

The number one thing I'd suggest is ask for feedback from the Foundry community. Forum posts are a start but you also have a number of community podcasts and other users available too, such as the following:

The Foundry Rountable - the podcast dedicated to the Foundry for STO (we gave a shout-out during the last show :))

Tribbles in Esctasy - includes some Foundry reviews as part of their show

    Rogue Enterprise
    - hosts a trade review thread. Play one of his missions and leave written feedback and he'll do the same to one of yours. It hasn't been active in a little while but that just means it could use a good kick. :)

Evil 70th - hosts an extensive feedback thread. Simply post your mission details and he'll add them to the queue. There's a bit of a backlog at the moment so any new submission will take time to work through, but for new authors it would be well worth the wait. :)

This is by no means a comprehensive list (one or two others were mentioned when we discussed this topic on tonights Foundry Roundtab) but it's a start.

So anyway, by engaging with people you can move through the review tab with relatively little difficulty. At that stage (because of how that tab works, or rather how it doesn't work in some areas) you're not promoting yourself to the general population but to the people who are actively looking at new foundry missions. Once you're out, a mission will see a good amount of activity while it remains in the "new" filter (people seem to keep an eye on that in STO) and then taper off with interest coming more sporadically from those searching or bumping into your mission through the sector block top 3 system.

Thank you all for the suggestions! This is very helpful. With so many "get your X accolade" foundry missions, it's difficult to know how many people are going to the foundry for stories and how to get their attention.

My mission is out of review! I'm now faced with the dreaded "no rewards" message. I believe this may be due to players skipping dialog, which shortens the mission a good amount. Hmmm...

I think it takes several more plays after getting out of review before a mission becomes rewards qualified. I'm not sure on the exact amount required though (this does assume people aren't progressing through the mission too fast btw).

The qualification for rewards does seem to be related to the number of plays, but it can happen even while a mission is in the review area.

I have a test mission where I try out new ideas for maps and fx that I have marked "Please do not play or review." Despite the fact that I am the only one who "plays" in this mission, I have apparently done so often enough that it now qualifies for standard rewards.

I read all of the dialogue as it presented itself on my playthrough of your mission, so it took me considerably longer than the 15-20 minutes required to qualify for rewards. :) (BTW, it was a great mission).

I didn't think my own playthroughs contributed to the reward qualifications. Well, that would explain something, I think. When I test the mission with a live character, I'll click through the dialog until I get to the part I'd like to test.

Thank you for the review! Glad you liked it. I appreciate it.
