Too many events at the same time

The Agents of Yesterday expansion launches on July 6th, which is before the summer event ends.

But I just noticed in the in game calendar that the featured series replay event happens June 30-July 14.

It would have been nice to have the featured series replay event start after the Agents of Yesterday event, or during since you'll probably need to do the featured episodes for your ToS captain to unlock various rewards (it's gonna be kinda like the delta recruit event). As it is right now, it looks like we're going to have 3 events all going on at the same time and that's just a little too much (unless they plan to make the rewards from the event, like the shard of possibilities and breen boff, account wide unlocks).

My friggen brain hurts. Which is quite perplexing since I lost track of it years ago. :p

Don't get me wrong, I'm excited to see the FE rerun again but powerleveling the TOS guy for the sake of making it to the breen stuff in time dampens that quite a bit, especially since I'd also like to do some stuff on risa.

    "Featured Series" Rerun now.

+1 for too many at once. Also i hope they are acct wide unlocks, but probably not.

just a matter of getting your priorities strait and sorting out what rewards you want and what you can skip or put off, im only really after the ship from the summer event so I can get that easy before Agents of Yesterday, I am not too bothered about the episode rerun rewards but if they have the lobi bonus I should be able run through these after I have got a bit of a start with my ToS character and come back to playing the AoY stuff later after I am done with the featured episodes if I need to.

When I think about everything we've been through together,

maybe it's not the destination that matters, maybe it's the journey,

and if that journey takes a little longer,

so we can do something we all believe in,

I can't think of any place I'd rather be or any people I'd rather be with.

Do TOS characters have access to FE missions, since that content takes place decades after TOS?

Oh boy....did you actively try to avoid any info/rant/whining that's been floating around rather openly?
TOS is basically a fed subfaction. After the turtorial and about (supposedly) 6 missions (that are on tribble now) you'll be ported to the 25th century and act like a "normal" fed while being a super secret time agent.
TOS = fed with a fancy backstory, once you're in the 25th you're completely fed gameplay & content wise.

Nonsense, bring it on. Better that then being bored because nothings going on. Its only a pain if you try to do everything on your thousand and one char. Pick one or two that get all the cool stuff and enjoy yourself.

I suspect the featured episode re-run is supposed to attract the less active players in the wake of the coming Expansion.
So that to keep their attention right until the expansion launch. By that time, the summer event will lose most of its playerbase, so there is some logic behind bringing on the table something lucrative to retain player interest.
Fe re-run is a unique event - more unique than the Lohlunat festival - so it has a potential to spark stronger interest.

the question that needs answering is as this is a episode "replay" event will characters who have not played these episodes yet need to play them before replaying them to qualify for any special items or bonuses?.

I agree. Bring it all on, I prefer too much to do rather than nothing(or one thing) to do.

Do we all really want the floater race and dancing to be the only different thing going on for a month?

+1 for the "too much at once" side. Are you guys purposefully trying to burn the players out?

As it is, I'll be doing Risa almost exclusively until it ends. The ONLY thing that I will do outside of Risa is leveling new TOS characters (hopefully more than one) to a level that they can get to Risa and partake in the events. Meaning at least lvl 11 so they can get the DOffs.

AoY will sit on the back burner for me until after Risa. Once Risa is done, then, and only then, will I move back the the game and level characters again.

The fact that there will be a FE rerun going at the same time as the launch of AoY AND the Summer Event simply means more content that will be missed. I could try and do Risa and AoY and the FE rerun, but I don't feel like burning myself out. Especially with the FE rerun and any new TOS characters that would get made because I'd have to 'power level' them to the appropriate levels of the FE missions.

    No thanks.

Of course the whole thing is moot anyway if I can't make any new TOS characters due to being at the character creation cap and unable, though willing, to buy more character slots.

    tl;dr

Eh, I won't tell others how to play, but I will voice my opinion and simply put, Cryptic is putting too much in too short a window.

Yeah, Shard of Possibilities, Ophidian Cane, and the Boffs are the only stuff worth getting IMO. There aren't very many FE rewards that are only available during the FE replay. Hmmmm Maybe the Kobali uniforms? We've not had a replay event since they expired.

To be honest, none of the featured mission reward really interests me. I seem to be doing fine without them. Maybe I will do them, maybe I will not. It depends on how I feel at the time.

For now, my primary focus is to farm Lohlunat Favors 'cuz there are some goodies I would eventually like to purchase from the Exchange.

I wasn't even planning on having them leave the 23rd century for several weeks. I assume they'd have to to get to Risa.

My understanding was that by lvl 10 TOS characters are thrust into the regular Fed timeline and then are able to interact with everything as a regular Fed character would be able. So it'll maybe take an hour or two of playing to get TOS characters to Risa. I can live with that.

    That's definitely true.
Of course a month after release, risa is over, FE is over, Temporal Agent Event is over, Aoy is old. Then there will be nothing to do again. You will be bored. I will be bored. Everyone will be bored cause there is nothing on.

At least moving FE a bit later spaces out the gaps and has smaller windows of nothing, instead of a massive gap of boring nothing after this period.

O.O FEATURED EPISODE RERUN!!!! they haven't done one of those in YEARS! SO HAPPY!
i have got to get my newer characters on this!

EDIT: also, the only time locked events are Risa and the FE. AoY isnt going anywhere. why do you have to do it all at once? Plus, AoY will have stuff thats broken at launch, no question. this other stuff will give you something to do while its being fixed.

Maybe it's because near the end of the summer event there's hardly anyone on Risa anyway, because they've farmed all the favors they want. The event is rather long and I admit I do get burned out by the end.

the FE re-run is no great surprise, i expected it around this time or towards the next few months. even so, i already mentioned in anoter thread a week or so ago that there shouldnt be too many events, because it can cause burn out. there is such a thing as a market being flooded with too much of one thing and next to no demand before long because everyone and their dog has one.

you don't know what they have planned for after AoY yet, they could have even more events and other stuff to do then and they may be more time consuming then what we have now but as always it is your choice to pic and choose what you want to play and what you can afford to miss.

not that likely considering a few months after they got the 50th anni to take care of. if they keep this going none stop, the big attendance they would be hoping for would likely go on largely ignored due to excessive event burnout from the grinding.

Oh, man... If only Cryptic (and every other MMO studio ever) categorically ignored 98% of the NOISE that passes for forum posting and just looked at what people actually do via metrics instead of what they say.

You know, without disturbing the fragile bubble of most posters' unshakable belief that it's utterly $&@)'ing crucial the studio listen to them and them alone over all other posters, naturally.

I don't know, its been pretty solid with events and what not since the start of the winter event at the end of last year.
after the winter event it went almost strait into the sto anniversary event, then we had the breach event, then we had the update to the skill system and Admiralty to sort out with the launch of season 11.5, then we had the crystalline entity event and strait after that the summer event, now we have the replay event and AoY looming on the horizon and other stuff in the expansion.
that's without mentioning all of the weekend events new mission releases + replays and other news items like the console releases and such that have kept us busy on the forums.
its been a pretty full year all round this year and we haven't even reached the official anniversary date in September yet.

don't forget we still have the star trek 50th event whatever that might be and possibly a mirror event and of course the start of this years winter event before the year ends.
