Upgrade Fail on tetryon rifle

So my rifle was a VI tetryon and it did 209 dps. I was upgrading it and at VII it did 219 dps. Then I uprgraded it to VIII and it went down to 109 dps ????????????????? Very frustrating, I spent a lot of dilithium and R&D materials to upgrade this.
I am also wondering why my XII ground weapons do no more than 140 dps ???? Was there a bug and that's why my VI rifle did so much damage??? And why cant I upgrade some of my weapons at all????

I thought I saw that a few times with some of my gear, but the numbers are often different when slotted and when in your inventory (slotting them automatically updates the tool tips with some of your skills/buffs). Maybe that's what's happening to you?

yah now that I think of it, it was during the upgrade process. So definatley a bug

It is always a good practice to equip the item in the right place (Space or ground) Before looking at the numbers​​
