Can We Finally Get Event Timers?

Nothing is more frustrating than completing an event and not getting rewards because the 20 hour time limit is not up.

If we have to live with these limitations, at least have the remaining time counting down somewhere.

    It most likely isn't. I assume that they're more than capable of doing this, but the fact that it has not happened yet may simply mean that they don't want us to have a timer.

    +1 for event timer please.

    Seriously frustrating when you do something like Mirror Incursion then find out afterward it wasn't time yet. Then I'm like, i don't think i have another one of those in me.

    The people you go to for the ship event grind have timers, the lady on the pier on Risa for flying high, the breen for the fastest game on ice all have timers.

    You could always look at what time you started the previous day, and then do it at the same time the next day.

    If you use an android smartphone, there is an app called ZDClock which has great customizable countdown timers. I use it all the time.​​

    There's also a great game called Fallout 4 you could spend your money on instead.
    Or WOW or SWOTOR that you can sub to and spend your money on if you want a MMO............

    3rd party programs are NOT an answer for STO to not implement a very simple timer.

    I dodge the problem by just playing as I eat my breakfast because I eat at the same time every day. and that about how long it takes, for me anyway.

    if I stop posting it doesn't make you right it. just means I don't have enough rum to continue interacting with you.

    with the summer, winter and anniversary event ship reputation missions you are only ever going to need to run the mission once in a twenty hour period so it is easy to apply a timer to the NPC you take the mission from, add to this the fact that there is only one timer for the mission required as there is no need for any other timers.
    with these mini events like Crystalline Entity and mirror you can run the mission multiple times throughout the day just for the fun of it if you wish, for this reason there is already a cooldown timer in place of 30 minutes, applying a 20 hour timer to these missions would prohibit players from taking part just for fun and that would be unfair.
    it would be highly complicated if not down right unfeasible to add a second 20 hour timer to the mission that players could see without removing the 30 minute cool down timer.
    with these missions its far easier for players to just keep their own track of the times they played the mission to get the reputation token (in this case a crystalline shard) you can easily do this yourself by just jotting the times you run the mission with each of your characters down on notepad, if I am running the missions around the same time every day I just make a note of the start time, if I am trying to earn extra shards for some reason by playing every 20 hours I just make a note of the time the mission ends and then subtract 4 hours to be sure I get the shard, its hardly rocket science but it works for me.
    for example based on my times from yesterday I can see that I started playing the missions at 3pm so I would be happy to play around that time today however if I needed extra shards I could start around 11.15am.

    I remember that when we wanted to change the quantity of marks on dilithium, so it took maybe more than year.

    I know you're trying to be helpful, but some advice is just too obvious to be given in a non-sarcastic tone. "Use a clock" is one of them. B)

    On-topic: Of course there should be a timer.

    Or they could just put the 20h cooldown on the whole queue.

    A better solution is to just remove the timer. If a person plays the event on a certain day, then it shouldn't matter when they play it just that I can only get credit for playing the event once per day. So I should be able to play on Friday at 7 PM and Saturday at 10 AM and get credit for both instead of worrying about a lousy timer.

    as I said in my last comment replacing the 30 minute cooldown with a 20 hour timer would be unfair for players who might want to play the missions just for fun without getting the shard, to team up with fleetmates or such, why should it spoil their fun just because you cant be bothered to pick up a pen and make a note of the time on a piece of paper.

    This I could get behind. I'm just about to give up on the event, with trying to keep up with the 20 hour timer across multiple characters being such a pain. External apps and notepads are a crutch at best. It might be easy enough to keep up a notepad with one char, but going through even jotting down times with multiple characters increases the amount of scribbles you have to keep up with by leaps and bounds. Also, I play at multiple times of the day, as going through my entire roster in one go would be a bit much, so simply playing at the same time each day isn't a solution in and of itself.

    so your philosophy is "as long as I am happy what anybody else wants is unimportant", so anyone who is trying to earn extra shards so they can complete an unfinished project from last year or just because they need the extra dilithium rewards is bang out of luck in your eyes, fine.

    it amazes me anyone could consider that level of micromanagement and min/maxing "fun" but I guess it proves that there really is a fetish for everything

    As a wise man once said, "The needs of the many outweighs the needs of the few." There will always be another Crystalline Entity event or Mirror Invasion event or a method to gain extra dilithium. Also, we are given 21 days to complete the event which means that we can earn enough crystal shards or multidimensional transporation devices to get 1.5 event rewards. So if I don't have the kit module from the last event, then I can get it this event and the console and the next Crystalline Entity reward next event.

    The vast majority of people that play this event will be happier if they don't have to keep track of lousy timers and can play when they want. Especially, if they have 5 or more different alts doing the event.

    Having it based on a fixed reset time would still require a visible timer to tell people when the reset happens. Otherwise, a player could play "Friday at 7 PM and Saturday at 10 AM," only to realize the reset does not happen between those times.

    And with trial and error as the only way to find out when it does happen.

    They would do it at one of the slow times. So if I do the Event on Saturday at 1 AM and do it 2 hours later, then I could get credit for Friday and Saturday. Might have to be in some place like Asia where the play Friday at 7 PM and Saturday at 10 AM to not work properly.

    Why not queue and fill a rep daily project after you've done the event? I think those are 20-hour countdowns as well. Granted, this can be an issue if you've finished all the reps and therefore have no daily projects to do.

    There is always a daily project for the newer reputations. The only problem is making sure that you have enough Marks on hand.

    Once you've completed a Reputation there's no visible 20-hour timers. The only 20 hour project left when complete is the standard Mark to Elite Mark one, which doesn't have visible timer (project to get Elite Mark just disappears).
