No it wasn't extended. Especially since you you don't need the Steam client to run the game. You could have run the actual ".exe" file instead.

    The game wasn't broken.

    Yep, exactly what nccmark said.

The game doesn't even use Steam, Steam is just an overlay like Arc. You can use either one, or neither.

The game has been working fine the entire time.

I use Steam launcher because it made sense in 2012 and I'm too lazy to change. I was able to claim the giveaways.

I use Steam launcher because it made sense in 2012 and I'm too lazy to change. I was able to claim the giveaways.

    Main reasons I use Steam:

    1. I have a ton of other games there, it's convenient for me.

    2. The Steam Wallet still allows $5 Zen Option.

Sometimes though, I just run it stand alone. I have never had any problems with Steam, but some people don't like it. In my personal experience, Steam and XBox Live are the two best and most reliable game services I have ever used. I was unimpressed with Arc, Origin, etc.

I would think to get free items like this I would bite the bullet and install ARC even if I was a ardent steam user even if I never used it at any other time or uninstalled it after I have my freebies, if it means the difference between logging in and getting the freebies or not logging in at all and missing out there's no contest in that choice.

When I think about everything we've been through together,

maybe it's not the destination that matters, maybe it's the journey,

and if that journey takes a little longer,

so we can do something we all believe in,

I can't think of any place I'd rather be or any people I'd rather be with.

Im of the opposite end... I dont need another Steam/Origin/Uplay/GoG Galaxy/Etc client, I sure as hell don't want more bloatware on my computer. So if a freebie requires arc, I just shrug and accept I wont have that shiny

that's fine as long as you don't kick up a fuss when you miss out on said shiny like the OP has in this thread.

    No it won't happen.

Don't feel bad, I hadn't been able to log on since the 11.5 patch. Something happened from that patch. I'm not the only one with the same issues.

funnily enough I have had no problem logging on to sto, I guess it boils down to what is worse for you, having a program on your computer that you would rather not use or not being able to play the game you really want to play.
if playing sto is not that important to you then fine stay as you are but personally if it means I can play sto without any problems just about whenever I want baring the server being down then having ARC installed is a small price to pay for that luxury in my opinion.

Standalone launcher works great, I will continue to avoid pointless, resource devouring bloatware "platforms" wherever I can. The fact that most PC games require steam nowadays aggravates me to an extreme degree. My one and only exception to this is blizzards launcher cause it logs me in without me typing my name, password, or authenticator code.

considering Im using steam and haven't had an issue, I don't think its steam being the problem.
