Hero ship pets?

Sometimes I notice very rarely a hero ship like Voyager or the Rhode island warping in when doing group content. I was wondering what caused this.

This may also be the support ships, called in using the Fleet support space consumables. They're single-use items to call in specific types of ships during combat.
