Not really but I do think it may help with the lag. To be fair, the lag is now mostly gone and I congratulate cryptic for taking care of that one.
Right, players cause lag.. we should get rid of players. Way to make helpful suggestions, a dead game has no lag.. it's also dead.
For the record, I haven't seen any serious lag in this game in months.
In any case, the strawman is strong in your post there, friend.
1. I'm not your friend.
2. Stop using terms you don't know the meaning of. Every person losing an argument on this forum calls 'strawman' and they have no idea what it means.
It's an opinion, dude. It's not healthy that something a stranger said about a virtual game for 13 years old teens to affect you this much.
Again, you're making yet another assumption. Just because I reply on a forum doesn't mean it is having some traumatic effect on me. You're giving your opinion, I'm giving mine.
I don't think you have any idea who I am which makes all these wild and generalized assumptions about me or the group I am supposed to represent incredibly and hilariously entertaining.
Says the hypocrite making all the assumptions. Nicely done.
Nor do I want to. That doesn't mean I am not allowed to critique what is obviously broken.
A critique is fine. What you're doing is advocating the removal of all who don't agree with you. There is a very big difference.
Gosh, now I am tired.
Yes, I have heard that judgmental hypocrisy can be quite exhausting.
As if anybody beyond 100k actually cares about other’s DPS when entering a PUG run. Hope you guys realize the worse you are the better a match DPSers get out of it.
So by all means please keep on being bad, just queue up! I also play for fun and need you for it.

Hello, I am one of those "evil" DPS'ers out there that some people in here want to be gone.
Why do I DPS? I like to learn. I am not trying to get to the top of all of the DPS'ers but I do want to learn what builds work the best for what I want to do in game.
My current effort is a Engineer commanding a Fleet T6 Excel' that I am working as a well rounded "fast attack cruiser". I want it to give and take damage well, as well as lend healing support and threat support to friendlies when needed. The ultimate DPS output is 50k. I want the ship to be able to have fun in PUGs and premade PVEs, and to dabble in Kerrat with friends when I want to. I just want to optimize what I have and be able to best do they way I want to play the ships.
I dont do what I do to be the best of the best, nor do I look down on the pug teammates that dont break 10k, if they are happy with thier output, thats fine with me, I still have some characters that are in the low teens-DPS wise because I havent geared them up, or they are so lopsided to a support role that they dont have that much output.
I met the "DPS After Dark" community, and they have fast become my ingame friends, we not only talk about builds and making them better but we also talk about whats going on in our lives, and we joke together, and do things that friends do. These guys will answer questions and help anyone that asksp, they dont judge, what level you want to play to is up to you, they just offer a resource of knowledge about the stuff in the game.
I, personally have been in pug matches where people see what I can do and ask me questions, I am more than happy to chat with them and help them out with a concept, and I dont force anything on anyone, they can take my advice or not.
Are there competitive and elitist PvPers and DPSers ? Sure there are but there are also elitist and snobbish non-PvPer and DPSers out there too. There is plenty of room in this game for all sorts of players, its just sad that some people adopt the opinion that they want "x" group gone because they feel that group ruins thier experience, thats pretty short sighted.
I think when the DPSers finally leave, STO will be perfect.
Could be that your post is misunderstood as a provocation by everybody who bothers to become good at game.
No good DPSer cares about you if you insist on being bad, so why do you care about others when they insist on being good? I really have a hard time getting that.

Well, I don't know if this is a April fools, but Valkifin is not gentle with his criticsm on Cryptic and Star Trek Online overall after watching his streams so I wonder why he continue to play the game.
Btw, what happend to their Coontinium DPS community they had going?
lol This thread is like watching a train wreck, but the funny kind of train wreck - you know, the one where the 2 trains collide while travelling at about 1 mph each and after nothing happens the passengers start jumping from the windows and screaming about how their appendages are broken.
Probably the funniest/most entertaining thread on the forum since the start of the year.
Seems April Fools went over a lot of peoples' heads. Also, Valikin had one too many stouts when he made that vid.
I'm not sure if the OP is counter-trolling, having his own April Fools, or...
I am a casual player in STO (yes, I am a casual, especially when compared to other MMO's I used to play when I had more free time). I play PvE and PvP, and I play the Episodes that I enjoy the most. I took the road less traveled as far as ship loadouts are concerned because I like to have fun! Yes, the various sub-communities in STO have changed over time, but by and large, I would say that the vast majority of people in this game do want to have fun, and would rather have something that would unite the RP, PvE, PvP, and Episode groups together, and not tear down one or more of those groups.
I think the more people that play this game and get to enjoy multiple aspects of this game, the more people will have a chance to try something that YOU are interested in. At the very least, it will keep your entertainment funded.
I'm a PvPer as well and here as well. DPS just happens and it's not the "only" way just another tool to use. It is a shame some go to extreme ways to get to an "extreme" DPS level but to each it's own.
The game has always been up/down and not sure why the point of getting bored? Usually pre summer and pre fall has always been boring in STO no matter what since it launched. To keep my sanity I do something else in between like SWTOR or other stuff
I Parse for personal improvement only, I care about my dps only as far as I can go with a Canon build which ends up being FUN for me, becuase Fun > DPS.
I do think the amount of dps some players can do is out of control, 100k+ builds are just too much.
"He shall be my finest warrior, this generic man who was forced upon me.
Like a badass I shall make him look, and in the furnace of war I shall forge him.
he shall be of iron will and steely sinew.
In great armour I shall clad him and with the mightiest weapons he shall be armed.
He will be untouched by plague or disease; no sickness shall blight him.
He shall have such tactics, strategies and machines that no foe will best him in battle.
He is my answer to cryptic logic, he is the Defender of my Romulan Crew.
He is Tovan Khev... and he shall know no fear."

1) Fun is great, or else why bother playing? I remember when I was teased and called a fail for playing the way I wanted to play. Stick to your guns (virtual and metaphorical), learn the mechanics of the game, and you'll do well, be successful, AND have fun at the same time. DPS rat race purely optional.
2) Now, is the out of control DPS due to the players creating the powers, or the designers designing the powers? Never quite understood the blaming the players for the tools provided to them. Now, exploiting, that's a whole different ballgame.
The joke is on you :P. DPS is not the way to go guys . Just play for fun and space barbie. Numbers will just make you apathetic bahahaha.
Anyways, the PvPers are gone. And that was good. I think when the DPSers finally leave, STO will be perfect.
Didn't watch the video, but what's wrong with PvP'ers and why should we be happy that they left? A large part of the DPS crowd are just good copy-cats, at least PvP requires some skill and other things beside just reaching the highest numbers possible.
Everyone knows PvPers are gone, which is a good thing they were nerfing everything and making this game more unbalanced for PvE.
And now it's the DPSers turn, they want make this game more than what it is. I think they should move on to EVE or some other hardcore game IMHO.
It's ironic...you're complaining about the DPS crowd...yet by your own words...PvPers nerfed everything...thus killed DPSers...yet you're saying the thing that kept DPSers down is gone and that is a good thing...despite hating DPSers...
Well you know what? This game is unbalanced...it is f-ing insanely unbalanced and you're praising the loss of people who helped balance the game...the only reason you would do that is if you're a DPSer yourself...
So basically you're trolling your own kind and want to be rid of them so what...you can be top DPS since you can't compete now?
Can't have a honest conversation because of a white knight with power

Why the "evil"? You are the one that is basically branding DPS'ers and PvPers that way.
Why so "serious"? I am not the one wanting to rid the game of players. The better question is why are you so serious?

I knew using Kinetics would be playing the game on hard mode, but what I didn't realize was how bad the deck is stacked against Kinetics.
