We have power tray load outs, stations, duty officers, and equipment slots that are saved to each ship. Why didn't Cryptic include the ship traits? With the new traits, it has become increasingly important to customize these to the specific ship as well. Where a general set up was good enough, the new traits make that type of setup obsolete.
I first noticed this when I set up my Steamrunner with cannons. Usually, I run beams and so I swapped the beam trait with the cannon and saved the profile. When I transferred to another ship, the beam trait didn't follow. And before I get the inevitable "But all you got to do is remember to swap traits" blah, blah, I'm old and I don't always remember and frankly, neither will you.
So let's fix this before it becomes even more of a problem as the traits system continues to evolve.

If you have enough energy to change ships, then you have enough energy to reload your traits (if you can't remember them, you should right them down). It may feel oh so inconvenient, but it is resolved with the pressing of a few toggles, it is not an event grind.
