Delta Recruits - Annual Event?

I would like to discuss the possibility of adding the Delta Recruit event as occurring annually on the calendar. For a week only, with no other special fanfare. It would allow players that have started since this event ended an opportunity for a Delta Recruit, and give returning players and those that never left, an opportunity to make a new captain.

I had loved the delta event, i'm all in favor of it returning, and as a possible twist on it allow older characters to play through as if this time you go back and replace your past self, possibly getting yourself as a bridge officer....that should give those temporal agents a padd full of paperwork to file!

I liked the Delta Recruit event, and even agree that it should be adapted into similar future events. The Delta Recruit was groomed to fight the Iconians, though, so I'd like to see the system/story tweaked for the current threat (temporal beligerents/Sphere Builders in this case), but the idea of having the early game incentivized like it was for the Delta Recruit event sounds like a winning proposition to me.

In a Priority One Podcast interview earlier this year, it has been mentioned by Al "Captain Geko" Rivera, that the Delta Recruit event will return. However, no date has been provided and there was no mention of it being updated to reflect events that takes place after the Iconian War.

still have my old delta recruit and almost finished grinding all the rep gear for him would love to make a new one maybe a romulan delta recruit I loved the romulan storyline

Salami_inferno, the EP, stated in a previous thread requesting a return of the Delta Recruit Event that he was enthused about doing something similar in the future. Frrom reading his post on the subject, it appears Cryptic is at least thinking about doing something similar in the future.

I agree with sirmayday. Personally, I've been holding off making any new characters (Not that I really need more ) in the hopes of another recruit event or an expansion. (Or perhaps an event leading up to an expansion. ) However, to spice things up, I really hope it has a new theme. I won't comment on what that might be, as there are too many possabilities, but hopefully it would also have a new suite of account unlock rewards based on whatever theme is chosen.

if this is using the actual delta recruit format rather then some differ model I see no problem with this.
give any players that missed out during the last event a chance to get the account unlock rewards, sure.

if this was some similar event based around a similar model like gamma recruits or some other recruits then no it would be just too much to have a different recruit event every year and feeling like you are missing out on rewards just because you really don't want to make yet another type of recruit.

Annual might be a bit much. It should be a special event every few years and have a fresh story each time. That being said, if the 50th and the new movie isn't enough of a reason to run another one... well I just hope we've got something even better for that. If so, then let's have another in 3 years, maybe 5.

What are we going to fight and recruit against Iconinans again? That war is OVER (if you can call it war...more like an Skirmish IMO). Perhaps it will be brought up with a different theme such as Dominion, Bajoran recruit or Gamma recruit event tie with a possible next expansion to that sector?

I agree. Next up should be a new one. Gamma recruit, or, in keeping with the most recent episode themes, Temporal recruit, though it might be tough for that one to be distinctive from the time-travel theme of Deltas..

I remember him saying that they'll have another recruit event. It's reasonable to assume that it'll be a different themed recruit, since we're done with Delta quadrant/Iconian war stuff.​​

I would not be surprised to see a new faction and delta style recruit to go with it, I am thinking a cardassian playable faction together with a cardassian recruit event where you will need to make a cardassian character to gain rewards for both the cardassian character as well as account rewards for your other characters.

At this point it isn't a question of should they make a new delta recruit type event, but they need to make one now, with large account-wide rewards. This game needs new players. It should also grant an additional character slot per existing accounts to uphold the F2P model.

Also, it should never be restricted to one type of species or any other such arbitrary restrictions in the name of metrics. I won't stay with a game that dictates exactly how I should play it like it's another job and duty. What keeps me here having fun still is the freedom to decide and craft one's own adventures alongside others and to escape other obligations.

I would definitely join in a Gamma Recruit event provided there's a new free character slot. As of now I wouldn't make more as I already have 11 toons, 9 of which are well equipped and far beyond L60, including 3 mains across all factions and already overwhelmed with playing them all without grinding myself out of the game altogether.

The DR event was really a lot of fun (2 of mine are DRs), especially since there were no time limits set other than the occasional bug halting progress which I hope got sorted.

One thing that bothers me is that my longtime main never got that fancy, Dil per Kill bonus.
Kind of bothers me that my Delta Recruits have that bonus but my main never will.

Unless they let us enter our current mains as Deltas next time. Then I'd be all for re-running mission episodes.

Except that trait expired as soon as the event ended. And since it was only 1or 2 dil per certain kills, even after going through all the early episodes it never amounted to much. As such, a well geared level 60 can get more in a couple hours than most delta recruits got in the entire event; making the trait of little use to an established main. And even from the perspective of newly made characters between the addition of dil rewards to every episode, the admiralty system, Rep system, and old DR account unlock boxes, "new" game dil is pretty abundant nowadays. Perhaps, if it had been permanent, it would have added up eventually, but that still would have been very slow and inefficient.

Never noticed that dil bonus expired on Deltas. That's kind of too bad.
But if that's the case, I guess I'm not missing much on my main.

that was the biggest misconception that a lot of players fell into regarding delta characters, they just could not seem to grasp the fact that after the event deltas were no better then regular characters.
