The 9th Republic Talons - a Warbird Exploration Group RP

Why the Talons? Because it is what you get, when you stir the Raptor. Because it is how it the Raptor holds worlds in its grasp, and is how it extends its reach farther out into the stars.
I don’t need to tell you how long the Raptor’s talons have been used for defence. Against our failed former Empire; against foes from across the galaxy and from the distant past; against any and all who seek to destroy the progress we’ve made as the Republic. Well now, those talons are extended yet again, spread out with the wings to grab hold of the galaxy and bring our influence to all corners of it.
The 9th Talons are part of that plan. With the Iconians finally behind us, the Republic is joining its allies in a journey of exploration and discovery. How long has it been, since we’ve explored the Alpha Quadrant? Many would say ‘far too long,’ as we’d been stuck behind our own Neutral Zone for centuries, a victim of an old Empire’s failed policies. But now, we can traverse the galaxy as far as Fire Itself guides us, the passion for exploration and knowledge burning inside our hearts.
The Talons are based on Starbase Phoenix – an appropriate name – far beyond the Zenas Expanse, in a part of the galaxy made easily accessible via an awakened Iconian gate. While SB Phoenix is a Federation base, the Talons are an independent group that answers only to our own government – but as partners in peace, we help Starfleet in a joint mission of exploration for exploration’s sake.
The time is now, friends. The galaxy is ours to enjoy once again. Don’t let this opportunity pass.
