My transporter chief is FIRED!

So I just beamed down to New Khitomer with my away team...well, not quite. We all stepped on the pad together in the ship, but...

When I get back to the ship, my transporter chief is FIRED! He's going to be scrubbing plasma conduits the rest of his career!

I already executed a few of mine for incompetence.

I've had glitches where I was missing BOffs or where they (or I) got beamed into an object or even up a wall (and they're usually doing the hop to try and get out but stay stuck), but this was a new one for sure.
They supposedly were on the map as there was a distance to them, but it seemed like it was a maxed-out or default distance. They didn't show on the map at all, not even as if they went through the floor and would have had arrows on their icons to show above or below (like pathing glitches during What Lies Beneath). Just...nothing...and they're almost 4km away, probably floating out in space somewhere, but still alive and unhurt. They were active to some extent, as they were petting their tribbles and supposedly sprinting (but to where I don't know), and that was in response to a rally point command, but no change in distance. They all started at "3.96k m" away from me and stayed there. Just weird...

It's actually happened to me every time I've played the mission. It makes fighting the Krenim a lot harder. Though they do spawn with you if you respawn.

"Floating out in space" would mean they'd fall to the bottom of the map's lower bounds, where they would either still be able to move or the fall would kill them (this can happen to players in some maps). If they were immobile they'd have to be stuck on something, possibly a setpiece used for the cutscenes.

I was able to beam out of the mission and back in and the BOffs appeared as normal, just a momentary glitch. I agree it would be a PITA if they didn't.

Yes, I know, but (a) their range started at that value and never changed (not moving or falling or changing distance relative to me in any X, Y, or Z axis, (b) they were unharmed with full health and shields and were actively taking actions (sprinting, using tribbles), and (c) they were not visible on the map anywhere, not even as some obscure little icon with an arrow next to it in the corner of the map or underneath me (I moved to look and zoomed the map as well). So they weren't stuck in/on any objects or on the map in any way I could tell, couldn't even tell if they were above, even with, or below me or in which direction as the distance never changed up or down, but they were somehow still "there", healthy, active, albeit almost 4km away. In perspective, that's a helluva long way if you think about space combat ranges, so they couldn't have been on the same ground map (unless it was on the planet or something). I've seen the eternal fall happen, done it myself, in this and other games, and have seen my BOffs get stuck inside/under/on objects all the time, but this was just bizarre. The game said they were there but never bothered to spawn them or something, I dunno...

Yeah, dismiss that DOFF. As a Klingon, we have a DOFF mission...Execute for Incompetence.

This is an old one actually. Happens every now and again since release. Generally the easiest fix is to die. When you respawn they will be back.

That happened to be a bunch of times back during the old Exploration System was still in place. That and I would fall through the floor just walking across the map.

That underground Nukara boss fight used to occasionally do something similarly wacky. Instead of five human players, it would beam in four humans and one member of one person's away team. Took me way too long to realize that was one of my officers repeatedly dying because I hadn't thought to equip him with an environmental suit.

Could still be doing that, for all I know. Haven't visited Nukara in many moons.

I think you just found your next volunteer for a redshirt mission....on Nukara Prime.

I've had similar happen to me on Kobali, a lot. My character would beam to whereever, but Bridge Officers wouldn't. Due to it being one big zone, they'd always try to get to me on foot. They rarely made it lol

You really should count yourself lucky in one respect. My Transporter Chief thinks it's funny to Transport my characters hair before the rest of him.

At least he beamed your clothes down with you. That's been a problem on some ships. Or so I hear.

I've never been able to do Stranded in Space without this bug. Thankfully they're lowbie mobs and easy to kill.

What Lies Beneath? That's a real pain to try and do alone. (Different bug though: The away team gets trapped behind a door)

Hm well most of those Boffs were Ferengi. No big loss :p

Now that's ironic... losses and Ferengi.
