And respeccing remains a thing according to Bort, which will severely limit the usefulness of the revamp if that remains locked behind a 500 zen a time pay wall.

Shame if thats the case as the system looks like an overall improvement otherwise

That's a good thing actually. It requires players to put some thought in their builds.

And if they removed respecs, lifers would lose on of their benefits.

I disagree, it means a large number of people will use the system once and never touch it again, that would be a huge waste of development.

The current cost is exorbitant, the cost of a t1 ship to move a couple opf skills around is far too much esspecially if you merely want to test something out.

I agree there and this is coming from someone with as I say maybe 40 respec tokens in the bank. I think my first character is down to 2 or 3 after many many respecs to fine tune the complex system of nearly limitless choice we enjoy currently.

But most games allow non$ currency for respec. Something along the lines of 8000 dil or 500,000 ec would be appropriate.

As an alternative what about all those millions of "expertise" that we have earned and have nothing to do with?

Or have different levels of respec such as small, medium and full meaning that you could move a certain number of skills for a small fee rather than look at 500 zen and say TRIBBLE it I'm not paying thatits not worth it.

To suggest that there would be no thought put into builds if respeccing was free however is wrong, it would allow the flexibility to explore more exotic off meta builds instead of resorting to cookie cutter builds based on the basis that the respec makes it too expensive to try.

Personally I believe they would gain far more from increased ship sales and people uipgrading gear that they wouldn't have touched otherwise than they will from leaving respeccing with its current price.

Respec tokens should be flat out free to everyone in this game ... just flat out free ... and this is from a LTS !!

The cost of respec tokens and the fact that I am lazy has me wondering when the builds will be posted and how long will I be able to go without giving a TRIBBLE this time, hope its as long as its been since the last skill revamp.

I hope they make respeccing free... or at least give us the option to buy one such option that allows you to respec indefinitely. SWTOR did it and I liked how that work.

I used to play guild wars back in the day and they had free respecs. I would change my skill points all the time. Trying different builds or tweaking existing ones.

In sto it makes no sense to charge for respecs. Quite frankly I'd be more willing to try more builds and buy more equipment (more cash for cryptic) if you could change the basic framework of a character without having to spend 500 Zen.

In fact I looked at my science alt earlier and thought about buying some Zen to sell for dilithium just to kit her out for a particle generator build. However she doesn't have the right specs for it and no respec tokens so I thought TRIBBLE it and didn't bother.
