Probably missing the obvious so could you elaborate?
I'm sure just flying a science vessel as a tactical character is insufficient reason to post a topic such as this.
This program, though reasonably normal at times, seems to have a strong affinity to classes belonging to the Cat 2.0 program. Questerius 2.7 will break down on occasion, resulting in garbage and nonsense messages whenever it occurs. Usually a hard reboot or pulling the plug solves the problem when that happens.
My bad yes 400/400 was my goal which finally became possible with the latest FE console... romms may have been able to do it before with special cores though.
So it means super grav wells and still plenty of prtg to hit like a truck.

Interesting stuff! I've got a hybrid partygen/gravygen build on my Sci; I might be stealing some of this.

Sure! The only expensive thing was the Tachyokinetic converter the rest is pretty easy to get and everything I used should be in the picture.
Except I used the personal trait for +10 prtg and I also used a fleet science skill boost for +10 everything but if you have the Inspirational leader trait you'll get the same effect permanently. I just couldn't be bothered to drop 250 mil on it. :P
I should mention that the conductive RCS and field exciter I used both have the gravgen mod, which you can't tell from the pic. LOL It's cheaper anyways which is always good.

Not bad at all.
Personally, I use the [PrtG] consoles for those 2, and have torps in aft, in a R-TBR build (as foes tend to drag behind you, when using R-TBRs). I should try it with gravgens too, I suppose.
Well I tend to like to smash things more but I was wondering if this was even possible so I demoed it. Apparently 400 gravgens is the magic number for super grav wells so hopefully I get 20 km of pull now.
Although it does mean I can't take my spire +torp consoles...
Neat . I recognize the icons for everything in the tactical slots, but could you write out what we're seeing in the other slots? (and maybe your secondary deflector choice?)
Romulon deflector Romulon 2-piece Deteriorating secondary deflector [gra] [prtg] [em] with epic mod Research lab consoles with [prtg] primary and [gra] secondary Conductive RCS with [gra] Field exciter with [gra] Nukara console Borg Console Tachyokinetic converter Latest FE console (forget the name) Personal skill that gives +10 [prtg] Fleet science skill boost for +10 all but if you have inspirational leader you get the same effect
That should be it unless one of the weapons sets adds some which I can't recall ATM.
The last console can be anything you like I just happened to have my constriction anchor on when I took the screen shot but if you intend to use the build it might be better to use bounty hunter friend for some armor.
Well, as amazing as that is - what difference will it make really? I mean, at 475 Partigens I am creating some wonderful GWIII's - but with countless OP T6 Scimitars now flying around, spamming BFAW and making even more of a mockery of the likes of ISA then ever before, what is the point?
475 Partgens is only possible if almost everything you slot has a [prtg] modifier, right? My Nebula is only around 360, a RCS [prtg] could push it close to 400 and a double prtg exciter would also do the trick, but other than that I don't know where I could get more partgens, plus the mentioned (RCS, esciter) with those mods are insanely expensive. I mean you must have slotted four or five double partgen exciters to reach 475?

I arrived at the same point at some point. Was quiet expensive with all that reskills and epic cosoles from fleet lab. Big grav wells, strong grav wells, beautiful grav wells. Aside from some fireworks not that much PvE contribution eh?
One should not forget that that science powers may be the main, but not the only aspect of science ships. They have weapons too! Perhaps they can’t out DPS a scimitar but I managed up to 71k in my little Dauntless as well by now (sci toon) you know. This is more than enough to compete in 90% of the isa matches I do.
I will tend to my paradox next, that sci ship is a monster.

Yes I caved and bought a paradox yesterday after some fortuitous business transactions left me a small surplus... the trait I'm not totally sold on because it's kinetic damage which is easily resisted even if it does penetrate shields and the magnitude is somewhat small. At 500 prtg I'm only getting like 9.5k though my traits may come into play during combat.
To answer earlier questions I don't like DPS channel runs because they are just kinda boring, most of the people seem cool it's just not my cup of tea ya know? So that's why we founded the science channel to have an outlet for unusual build types to play together. So BFAW scimitars aren't really of any concern to me... besides even in all their OPness they can't pull ships in a 20 km radius into one spot.
About PRTG: the Nukara console and romulan/reman set 2-piece will grant another 40ish and an epic secondary deflector will give +25 which is about as high as you can go I believe. 520 without any special skills is the highest I can go unless I missed something.
Hmm, does the Dyson weapon set or console add some?
That's impressive but would you say that 400 on each is optimal for grav & prtg?
I have 471 prtg at present, could get it up to 490 if I slotted the Nukara console. But that seems pointless if my grav skill is only 157 currently.
Should I drop some of the prtg boosts to even them up a bit?

I wondered the same, although am reluctant to make too many changes at this point. Two reasons:
1: Expense
2: Whilst having a powerful GWIII is fantastic, I put my Partigens high so that the likes of Destabilizing Resonance Beam and Isokinetic cannon would pack a heavy punch.
Yes definitely. I can't afford to go buying and upgrading new consoles to test out a perfect balance. Plus what you said, high prtg means things like DRB and IsoK are really nasty, I wouldn't want to miss out on those two party tricks!
Also my particle emission torp cooks things to death inside their shields at the moment, which is a nice way of avoiding the kinetic resistance of shields.
Well here's the thing.... you have to measure cost vs reward. While super high particle generators is certainly fun I only lose about 100 for this build compared to what I usually run. Even so you can also have 500/300 if that suits you better you just need to decide what you want to do.
I believe gravity well has a base pull radius of 4km and every 100 after that increases it by another 4km so at 400 gravgens and high Aux power you can pull everything within 20 km into one spot. Someone correct me if I'm wrong please.
So I lose 100 prtg yes but everything within a 40km sphere of my gravity wells will be herded in one nice little spot for me to pummel with all my AOE'S and it also helps my team mates. If you wanna go 500/300 you get a 16km pull area which isn't bad either. It also enhances tractor repulsors allowing me to drag entire fleets of ships around the map and dump them where ever I wish.
So just decide what you want to do and build accordingly, I never had problems killing stuff even at 350 prtg so I don't see that as an issue.
Thinking I can loose around 60-70 ptrg and swap that into grav gens so that gives me something to play with.
I can probably swap the Solanae deflector which would lose 50 prtg, Romulan/Reman to relace it would give +45 grav gens at epic Mk 14.
I'll maybe play with some of the R&D consoles to see what happens to numbers, I've got 1 spare with grav mod as primary but not upgraded.

Pretty much spot on. I have 2 particle gen characters. One is all particle gen and the other is a grav/particle gen split. Both are great but it's really nice being able to pull all the NPCs in instances like counterpoint into one spot with the grav/particle gen build.
Yes if you spec into grav Gens in your captain skill tree (and everyone should) and get the research lab consoles with PRTG and gravgen secondary that's 200 right there for 12km of pull which is pretty good for most applications. As a general rule of thumb I want it to pull everything within my weapons range inside of it.
I'm curious, in that the consoles other that the field exciter seem to be +threat, which only occurs on embassy consoles, and yet you said they're lab consoles. I've used the lab consoles to get my paradox up to about 520 pgen, but only ~250 grav, but I made a ~500 grav build awhile back as well, it just involved swapping to the opposite lab consoles. Still only 40k out of either setup...engineer and all that.

I think what you are seeing is R&D lab Exotic Particle Focuser consoles. They have the same icon as the +threat embassy consoles so it's hard to identify them without the tooltip.
It bugs me they couldn't create new icons for the R&D stuff as it's only a few tiny icons, not too much work really.

GZ on getting the Paradox!
Have u monitored the trait and if it works? Think I defiantly get some additional damage out of grav wells in the end in CCA but have yet to try it out in more detail. Still the more I fly the ship the more I like it.
My question here is if the new trait also triggers when you use the doffs which have a chance to make an additional gav well after the first? Would it kick in twice as well then?
