aaaah! this ties in with that awesome article about the new ody's. See, we love stuff like this, I totes done an excited geek flap. More of this plz!!!!
I see the Nagus' hand in some of Kirayoshi's dialogue...
Edit: Am I the only one whose mind kept jumping back and forth between "they're refitting the Enterprise" and "they're joining the Enterprise's engineering crew'?
Infinite possibilities have implications that could not be completely understood if you turned this entire universe into a giant supercomputer.

When ya stop to think about it, what did all the characters of TOS think about Kirk...
We're essentially supposed to be in his caliber as starship Captains.
Curiouser and Curiouser...

I bet O'Brien was instrumental in getting Memory Alpha closed down. It was a tomb!
Captain Jean-Luc Picard: "We think we've come so far. Torture of heretics, burning of witches, it's all ancient history. Then - before you can blink an eye - suddenly it threatens to start all over again."
"With the first link, the chain is forged. The first speech censured, the first thought forbidden, the first freedom denied, chains us all irrevocably."
Wait. UPSCALING the Enterprise? Are you guys kidding me? Isn't the lady already huge enough?
Taking it up to one of the new blocks I suppose.
"Rise like Lions after slumber, In unvanquishable number, Shake your chains to earth like dew, Which in sleep had fallen on you-Ye are many they are few"
I wonder what she, Watu, thinks about us, I mean aren't we (the players) supposed to be famous in Starfleet or something? ...I mean we only stopped the Iconina War, Bavot, Borg attack on Vega and made first contact with the Lukari...
Nothing little... I mean its not like we're the Triola Scott of the 25th century.
EDIT: For that matter I wonder what all the other characters think about us, (Shon, Quinn, the rommy dude at Dyson etc.)
But we're not canon save in our own private storylines.
Reading that, a scene popped into my mind out of nowhere. XXD
That night, a random ensign technician, Mike, gets a call from his wife, Miley, who lives in one of the Mars colonies down on the surface.
- Mike, something got transported to our backyard a few hours ago. Did something get mixed up on your end?
- Hi dear! Uh... are there cracks on it?
- Uhm... now that you mention it, yes there are. Why?
- Oh! That's just the main deflector dish of the USS Enterprise. I... I may have bonked into it accidentally with a shuttle; and no, they're not going to pick it up later.
- WHAT?!
- It was Chief O'Brien's idea! But, I think I can modify it to look like a tennis court.
- MIKE!
- Sorry!
So the blogs about the new flagships were supposed to be from the latest edition of Jayce's Navy Interstellar? Nice touch!

Lol, that was an interesting read. Though I really hope the Enterprise isnt going to change visually too much. I love the original Odyssey look and while the new series also look good (minus the Sojourner IMO) I think the original Odyssey looks perfect as the Federation flagship.

I think the Enterprise would be keeping its current look. The refits they're talking about in the story is probably all internal. Besides, it didn't take any serious damage during the Iconian War and it hasn't been commissioned all that long. It wouldn't make sense for them to make any structural changes so quickly.
That Jayce's article mentioned the Entreprise-F to be the science Odyssey. So if they're officially refitting it, it would make sense to become the Yorktown.
TOIVA, Toi Vaxx, Toia Vix, Toveg, T'vritha, To Vrax: Bring in the Allegiance class. Toi'Va, Ti'vath, Toivia, Ty'Vris, Tia Vex, Toi'Virth: Add Tier 6 KDF Carrier and Raider. Tae'Va, T'Vaya, To'Var, Tevra, T'Vira, To'Vrak: Give us Asylums for Romulans.
Love to get all these 'lore' blogs into game somewhere, it'd be really cool, we could always use another tab somewhere in the UI.
How about if they collected them all in one place...somewhere you could read about all the lore and history in STO...someplace like a sort of galactic library....
O'Brien's speech about being careful about non-standard parts sounds like what my Chief Engineer would have to say to people working on my Sci Oddy, only he'd probably have to add stuff like:
-Use caution around the Borg nodes. Let's keep our work space assimilation free!
-Always wear mag boots when near the Zero point module. Gravity tends to fluctuate in that area.
-In case of plasma fires, industrial strength fire extinguishers are located in the torpedo bays.
-Anyone experiencing a shift in phase variance should report to the science lab.
-Containment on the Red Matter capacitor is to be maintained at all times, unless you happen to like getting sucked into a gravitational anomaly.
-Access to shuttle berth 47 is restricted to all personnel without proper security clearance. Anyone violating this should expect a late night visit from Section 31 and/or Temporal Investigations. Also, all rumors that there is some sort of "time ship" aboard are officially denied.
My Chief Engineer Two of Twenty would probably add drlyly that 'just because this is a Republic ship non-romulans are still barred from obtaining or consuming romulan ale for any reason, ESPECIALLY during their shift.
very nice piece of writing! O'Brien's introduction was great.. with such a familiar sense of recognition that it put a warm smile on my face. the trio were well padded to give a real sense of character, and of course, the entire thing just fits in so well with the release of the new ships, as intended.
would love to see more of this story.. hopefully with something from the Romulans and KDF too.

Whetu and O'Brien aw, alright. She's all flustered. Kirayoshi very smooth.

But the Odyssey original model also got a visual overhaul. It's probably too subtle for most of us without the direct comparision.
You can see the differences here:

(Also, I really love Whetu and Elyos - their dialog is gold)
