stupid question

in Star Trek Online General Discussion
i know this is a stupid question but im gonna ask it anyway...
what does bonus defense actually do... with all my buffs i got 100% bonus defense should i have more or is 100% good. i know that higher defense makes you more difficult to hit, but to what extent i have no idea...

can some1 enlighten me? [please be nice about it]

    There are no stupid questions besides the stupid ones.

    Bonus Defense counters Accuracy. The more bonus defense you have and the lower the accuracy or bonus accuracy the enemy has the less likely you are to be hit.

    okay thanks... but is 100% good or should it be higher?

    I'm pretty sure 100% is good, but higher would be better. At that level, attacks have a 0% chance to hit (good for you), plus their bonus accuracy (bad for you, if it's high). My bonus accuracy is to the tune of 50% (on a Tac captain in a T6 Tactical Escort with good-not-great gear), and accuracy isn't really favored by the current meta, so 100% is good. More is better, but not at the expense of something more important to your build.
