Ship looking like a Xmas tree

IWe do my star ships look like a chistmas tree. They have a shiny metallic look rather than a nice flat federation look. I've tried customising my ship. Everytime I beam back to my ship it still looks like blackpool iluminations! Is this something to do with the lighting setting of my display? It happenes on my t5 and t6 ship.

    It's your shield. Right click the shield on your ship and choose 'Disable Visuals' get the usual pattern back.
