This is just a question out of curiosity, but would it be plausible to let the players choose the outcomes in certain missions. The decisions that the player makes could define what type of captain they become. I know there are games that allow you to make choices which turns the character more villainous or more of the hero. We have seen in the series where characters like "Tom" Riker turns out to be Marquis while Will Riker goes on to be the Starfleet officer we know he really is.

Yes there are. /cough Mass Effect, SWTOR... but ultimately those games come to the same conclusion no matter if you go for paragon or renegade path.
Anyway STO is like Star Trek, it tells you 1 story from 1 perspective (Fed). Let's hope with the new TV series this will change. We need multiple captains from different alliances.
