Waited a year for Samsar cruiser

Over the summer I completed my Risan Corvette that I slotted from the previous year. I was looking forward to getting the Samsar, which I almost had completed but didn't. Now I completed the mission but cannot apply these new stuff to the samsar to complete it? I thought if it was slotted we could complete it!
