Scars and Tattoos

I'm pretty sure this has been brought up more than once over the years, but as I am a) too tired to scroll through the entire forums for it, and b) not sure i'd actually find them due to sheer volume. Ill ask here:
Why do we only have scar and tattoo options for the face/partial neck? Why not allow for scars and/or tattoos on the rest of the body? I'm not asking about more variations, I could care less about those. But what's stopping the devs from adding the options to place them on the rest of the body? I, like many other players (I might be assuming falsely), have at least one Character with one or more scars all over their body, but can't show them due to the current limitations. I don't mind them, but occasionally I get a tad annoyed when I go to the tailor and am unable to make a tattoo on the arm or torso. Thoughts?

probably cause it more work and rather limited need. that being said I wouldn't mind if they changed it so we could.

if I stop posting it doesn't make you right it. just means I don't have enough rum to continue interacting with you.

The EMH has OCD and is compelled to run a dermal regenerator over every scar he encounters. (Except where there is a risk that said dermal regerator could be inserted in his holoemitters)

I would not mind seeing them expand the tattoos and scars both in designs, and also locations on the body you can have them. Also with them opening mid-drift open uniforms int eh new lock-box it would be a great addition as you can show many of the tattoos/scars on the body if they merely copy/paste the system they use on the face into a body-art option when using uniforms that show skin/no uniform. Even though if they made packs of new tattoos/scars that you could buy like how you have uniform packs, as well as made more ways of showing them off without completely for going using a uniform completely like how the new mirror setting uniforms look, than i would actually be more apt to buy an use tattoos more often.

Why do we have scars to begin with or eyepatches. Medical advances can take care of the former as well as the latter. Pirates in this game look like The Predator and not an extra from an old Pirate Movie.

All that Borg Tech should be easily removable some 31 years after Voyager. ;)

Right? That's always bothered me about the Franklin Drake character. Why does he have a scar? He doesn't have access to a dermal regenerator? You'd think Section 31 wouldn't want their operatives to be walking around with easily distinguished physical features.

    After only 4 months, 19 weeks, 134 days, it's here. It's real!

Yeah. And while medicine has made advances to such that scars need not exist anymore, it adds a bit to the realism of the game.

You also have the fact it could be traditions of their race, or world they came from from, like as part of a coming of age rite. There is also that it might not be removed for some reason, as we have seen their are somethings that are still beyond their technology.

Where Borg tech/implants are concerned it has been shown in quite afew shows that even with the advances in technology, that these implants can re-appear an almost act more like bio-organisms than merely technology. Also It could be that some of the implants could be hooked into systems that can't be repaired yet also, and so removing them might lead to more complications an issues than compared to leaving them be. There is also the fact that the implant might give the person advantages compared to if they did not have the implant.

well, way back when there were no uniform or casual offers that exposed the torso, so scars/tatts for the body were not done. I don't think any shorts and short sleeves were available either, hence no arm tatts. to go back and re-do that model would be a lot of work with little to no financial gain for the company

Well, some people ARE daft. That apart, eyepatch doesn't necessarily mean no eye. My Klingon has one because he doesn't want everyone to see he's a Borg. (Implant unremovable for same reasons as 7 of 9's was - IC: it's dug in too close to the brain, OOC: it's the single best way of making someone look Borgy. Also, it still does cool things.)

As for scars, remember the system has to cater for Klingons; Klingons would show off about their battle scars and tell shocking lies about their origins. Certainly wouldn't start gratuitously getting rid of them just because they now had the technology.

Oops, returning to original topic: yes, it does seem odd that they can't extend the X and Y position sliders to allow you to position a scar or tattoo anywhere on the body, or else add a second Scar/Tattoo menu for the body. But presumably it's more fiddly to set up than it looks.

The head and body are treated as separate entities, it's why Trill spots have that gap on the neck. I'd love some options to give some of my characters some body art, it's been asked for for years and no word on it as far as I can recall.

they can do it now that they actually had to texture the torso, arms ad legs for the risa beachwear, and again, unless they can monitize it.. won't happen

I would like some basic shapes for tattoo options, like square, circle, triangle, hexagon, etc...

That's a good idea. Something a bit futuristic, since this is in fact supposed to be set in the future. That could be the secret badge of an underground pro-AI movement or something spooky like that. It's silly to have nothing but these various kinds of cod "tribal symbols".
