Giveaway:
I won at the christmas party giveaway. So I thought I would not participate in the giveaway during this episode. Except that I obviously did. By using the keyword before the giveaway had even begun. But hey, rules are rules, so thanks again.
Now I would like to suggest changing the keywords. Maybe something like "!keyword" or "#keyword" instead of just "keyword"? Or something along those lines?
wiki editing contest:
"Bribing" people into rushing to the wiki to start editing the living hell out of it. What could possibly go wrong?
Yeah, I know. I'm a cynical TRIBBLE. Deal with it.
Upcoming voice actor:
So CaptainGeko tweeted that Michele Specht (Counselor Dr. McKennah on Star Trek Continues) was in the recording booth to do some voice-over work. Let me just say that I'm gonna watch the official STO twitter very intently...
Oh and since we're at the topic of voice acting again... I found a really nice polygon article about Critical Role.
One thing Liam O'Brien said in that article: "The job requires you to play inside your own brain-powered, Star Trek holodeck, painting the surroundings and circumstances around you with your mind."
He uses the holodeck to explain his job/roleplaying. I just wish he had been involved with some sort of Star Trek product... Oh, wait... *urge to yell at someone at PW rising... rising... rising*
And just fyi... Ashley Johnson's (who won a BAFTA for voicing Ellie in The Last of Us) twitter handle happens to be "TheVulcanSalute"... That's got to be a coincidence, right?
Community question/RP blog "Suspicions":
Well, I talked about it last week, let me just add that... remember when I tore through Butterfly and Midnight? I still like those episodes. They have their problems (quite a lot of them to be honest), but I enjoyed them. Same thing here. I don't have a problem with the writing, I have a problem with the content. That is a distinction that needs to be made.
Btw. I listened to the G&T show and they seemed to really like that blog. I didn't quite understand why...
RP blog "Gentle Repose":
I didn't really watch Enterprise. So the Temporal Cold War means nothing to me. But in my opinion it's not easy to write a good time travel episode and we seem to be getting a lot of them. Be afraid, be very afraid... (Like I said before, I'm a cynical TRIBBLE.)
Now, what did I like about the blog?
I liked the playful banter.
I read how people recognized the name "Lefler". I guess we'll have to wait and see whether that particular name was intended to mean something.
And since we're talking about stuff that might not mean anything... Did anybody else notice how Commander Nereda is identified as a Cardassian? We know Captain Walker is human-looking, we don't know anything about Lieutenant Lefler and then Nereda is explicitly stated to be a Cardassian. I wonder if anything will come out of that...
So let's dive back in.
RP blog "Suspicions":
I noticed that I haven't been as thorough as usual, so I wanted to rectify that oversight.
We only talked about how the Krenim look like drooling idiots here. But what about the alliance?
Remember when we discovered the Krenim? Yeah, they didn't have the resources to build all this stuff. So the alliance built it.
A'dranna, Nog, Seven... they all were at this facility doing research, building this stuff, exploring the potential benefits and drawbacks of the temporal incursion technology... Now tell me, since the alliance decided to abandon the temporal incursions (remember "Butterfly"?) and refitted the ship to generate a time portal, why would they let the Krenim take over without any kind of supervision? I mean, shouldn't there be some sort of supervisory body and a security detail to make sure this technology does not get used? Maybe even erasing all the data because this stuff is too terrible to exist? Or at the very least some scientific advisory council and a security detail?
Do you see how the flaws in the Iconian War story arc actually spill over into this new story arc? This is clear proof that Iconian idiocy is a highly contagious disease. We need to nuke this entire timeline. It's the only way to be sure...
Anniversary event:
Okay, so the next featured episode is the anniversary episode. Well, I shouldn't be surprised since both "Temporal Ambassador" and "Dust to Dust" were anniversary episodes and at the same time featured episodes (during the respective anniversary).
Mmh. The Omega minigame returns. Well, that was a given since it has been stress-tested on Tribble... last week (I think).
What kind of ship do we get? Oh. A T6 Krenim science vessel. Well, I guess sun and dragon won't be too happy. I mean, it's a free T6 sci vessel, but it's neither KDF/"real" klingon nor romulan and it's only available for a limited time... I blame Priority One. They suggested something like this to CaptainGeko during an interview once!
More information about the episode and the ship soon and... what's that? A giveaway to lead into the event? Okay, I'm really curious what we're gonna get this time around.
Well, I'm definitely looking forward to the event. I guess not everybody at TiE will share my excitement.
I knew it would not be KDF/Klingon/Romulan/Federation. Event ships that I have been able to earn have always been cross-faction or alien, so I really expected nothing different on this.
The being said, I DO hope they keep it as an actual science vessel, ie Commander Science BOFF seat, System Analysis, Secondary Deflector, and at bare minimum an Ensign Sci seat as befitting a Science vessel. But time will only tell as I have yet to see any new info on the ship as of the posting of this response.
