Memory Alpha declares this massive ship to be over 285 meters in height. But can anyone guestimate the distance in height between the upper and lower wings?

You can actually compute it. Take a still image of the ship as dead-on the side as you can get it, and count the pixels. Rememer that pixels are NOT square, so you need a multiplier to correct for that issue. You should get an almost perfect value, off only a tiny bit due to the imperfect angle of your camera.

The correction factor is your STO screen resolution, by the way. And of course you have to set up equations (known distance long = x pixels so 1 "corrected to square pixel" = Y meters, ... etc...
