Thanks! I just really liked the name Lakota but I could easily name another ship of the class as Iowa. The background story for this ship had the original Lakota destroyed in the Iconian war.

I liked this.... I like nearly all of the Ship, the Saucer, the Nacelles/Pylons, and the Neck, and ho it meets with the Saucer.
Not really a fan of the lower section of the Secondary Hull, but can't really tell you why. Probabl ybecause I'm looking for a round deflector, but thats just me.

Thanks very much for that link primar13, I submitted some of my artwork there, so we'll see! In the meantime, I've done a short animation of the Lakota. It's a very short and simple flyby, but it's my first ever animation so I'm pretty pleased with it.
I'm impressed, this is very nice design and like tactical drones idea. I would be very pleased if your ship would be made into a T6 Sovereign remodel. Keep up the good work!

I have no idea what it takes to make this art, but I imagine it's not simple. There is a lot of love put forth and some guts to share the idea. Although I too think "Excelsior" when I read Lakota, I also think Native American :P. Regardless, I'm extremely impressed by the bridge work; ships come and go, but the brains of the ship are rarely seen.

This point you made was one of the first to be raised and answered on this thread. The dish isn't blocked or obscured. It is merely moulded around the secondary hull. Other STO designs like the Manticore Heavy Destoyer stoacademy.com/tools/skillplanner/images/ships/ManticoreHeavyDestroyer.png and the Pathfinder https://onlysixdonuts.files.wordpress.com/2015/05/uss-pioneer_1.png?w=660 have done something similar so a precedence has been set for this design trend.
