MAINTENANCE [DECEMBER 11TH, 2015]

trailturtletrailturtle Member, Star Trek Online Moderator Posts: 58
'Evening, Captains. Trendy and the dev team spent the day bug-hunting the login issues discussed in this thread, and we've now officially got them pinned down.

Tomorrow morning, we'll be doing a maintenance to implement a fix. This should be a bit shorter than a regular maintenance, just 7 - 9am PST. In the meantime, you can skirt around the issue by leaving Q's Winter Wonderland before logging out or changing characters.

Start time: 12/11 @ 7am PST
Estimated duration: 2 hours
Patch notes are here.

Will be nice when we can get onto DS9 and ESD without being stuck in ridiculously long screen that starts around 97%. But I have managed to set a new personal record of 50mins trying to get into DS9. And that's with forcing the game closed and re-logging.
Oh, it's not broken? We can soon fix that!

I thought this was what you were going to fix. Thankfully it didn't happen every time I tried to login, just often enough for it to be very annoying.

Well they need to turn off the server, put up the code, see if things work as they're supposed to, then start the server again while making sure that nothing goes fubar in the process, and then bring the holodeck live. This is probably going to take a whole lot less than two hours if nothing goes wrong, like maintenance yesterday lasted almost 40 minutes less than estimated, but I think they like to put in a bit of leeway into the time estimate considering how apeshit this forum goes every single time we go into as much as 5 minutes overtime.

Nice, I didn't expect that to get fixed before the end of the Winter event.
TOIVA, Toi Vaxx, Toia Vix, Toveg, T'vritha, To Vrax: Bring in the Allegiance class.
Toi'Va, Ti'vath, Toivia, Ty'Vris, Tia Vex, Toi'Virth: Add Tier 6 KDF Carrier and Raider.
    Tae'Va, T'Vaya, To'Var, Tevra, T'Vira, To'Vrak: Give us Asylums for Romulans.

Don't make ARC mandatory! Keep it optional only!

Well when I see extended downtime on the EVE Online server which is much bigger than this one with a full patch list take less than one hour I still don't see what they need 2 hours for that. And yesterday yes the maintenance lasted 40 min less but last week lasted 2 hours more.

Yeah, well, there's a huge difference between a top-notch company like CCP, that believes in doing things right, and a company like PWE. You can't really blame Cryptic if their parent corporation won't give them an adequate budget. Also, CCP isn't having to pay royalties on the EVE universe, (although the original EVE universe did bear a suspicious resemblance to the world of Wing Commander: Privateer, just without the Kilrathi)

On what the budget and the royalties change the maintenance duration? And of course I blame Cryptic, they are the ones who do the maintenance, not PWE.

I just did something worse, beam out of Q's WW at exactly maintenance time when Live went offline, so now in some Q quantum ream.

After collecting one characters admiralty rewards I figured out what most likely is the reason for this maintenance. I didn't go any further once I saw it was giving 30k dilithium to me on some of the projects. I guess fixing the game server problem is nice too but this kind of exploit which I have no idea how it was done and I stopped right then and there once I saw it has to be the true reason for this down time lol.

    Wow, you guys are mean...

At least they are fixing something. Count your blessings and be grateful for what you have, rather than complain about the things you don't have...

Anyway, if it's 4am and you guys are still awake playing, perhaps 2 good solid hours of sleep will do you some good!

Not sure about anyone else here, but it's 4 pm here. But there's the entire rest of the Internet, not to mention off-line activity so I'll survive this. Somehow :p.

What surprises me is the size of that patch: 458 MB with 400 MB downloaded (disabled on demand patching).

Looks like something was patched beyond Gameserver not found issue.

Can we have patch notes please?

So we get a two hour maintenance just because people are either a) too lazy to not log out in WW or b) too stupid to just log back in and do a safe login? This could have easily waited until the next scheduled maintenance.

I survive it by chatting with my son in law on Yahoo and we make fun of all the complainers :pensive:

Way I see it, it's a game, it's fun, the devs need to run a maint so there's no point to complaining about it, or the bugfixes everyone else wants done yesterday.

I have fun, the bugs don't affect my gameplay very often, not enough to come in here whining and complaining about it and demanding refunds if things don't go my way.

I know, that hasn't happened in here, but the sheer amount of entitled whining and demanding in the general discussion forum is about to drown it.

    And what about the Admirality?

I completed the Federation tour of duty and got the 2 specialisation points rewarded. I also completed the Klingon tour of duty got the progress bar up to 10/10 but STILL no 30K Dilithium. (completed it a few WEEKS ago :/ ). Not even after the update yesterday... please look into it again.

I also want to congratulate PWE for adding the Badlands BattleZone, i did'nt had so much fun in months, thnx for adding it :-)

you get that dil for finishing specific levels of admirality. they're one time bonuses, not accidental.
Now clowns, that's another story. They scare the crap out of me.
We fight them too. Entire armies spilling out of Volkswagens.
We do our best to fight them off, but they keep sending them in.
