"Loading the Foundry"....???

Hi everyone ,

So I have a problem with the Foundry.... I thought it would not be a problem once I got my new computer,
yet, it still is, and this is the problem:

When I click on my first Project (since I been back), to "edit", a little window pops up saying " Loading the Foundry: waiting for editing
server to start up and patching Foundry updates"....... my problem is, it remains like that , with that message on screen
forever....... so far a half an hour.... and still it is at that screen......

is it patching like 200 GB or something? cause , I know I have a great computer, I mean a really great computer now, and yet...

yeah.... it gets stuck at that ... loading foundry thingy....

****sighs a great big sigh***

anyone know why??? i have been wanting to create a foundry episode forever, and this has stopped me from being able to do so...

(forgive me if i have got this in the wrong forum area, if i do, i was not sure where to post this precisely to get replies)

Thanks in advance for any helpful replies!!!

and hope you all have a great and Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! :)

Do you have patching on demand turned off? I read that having it on can cause such problems.

Just to eliminate patching as a possibility (and speed some other stuff up), I would go into the launcher options and uncheck on-demand patching. However, it does sound like maybe a network issue (maybe your LAN, more likely Cryptic's ISP again). To eliminate THAT possibility, can you try using another Internet connection, like at a library or a friend's house?

Yep Definitely Start by Disabling On-Demand Patching. ODP is the number one cause of Foundry Problems. If after that it hasn't cleared up then let us know.

Hey everyone, thanks for the replies! it's not the internet connect as yesterday i went to a friends place and tried it there too and still the same thing happened, my computer is great so its not that, so is my internet connection. So right now,
the only thing left to do which I had not known about till you all told me here, is that On Demand Patching .

I have unchecked that, and now it is patching 4584 MB, I am guessing that is for the foundry that it is patching.

Once it's done patching I'll let you know if the foundry is working for me or not.

Thank you kindly all whom read this and replied and reply! :)

On-demand patching downloads game files from every aspect of the game as you need them. So while some of the files might be Foundry-related, they won't all be. Your whole game should load a little bit faster, you'll notice it on loading screens.

Thank you again everyone for your replies, to answer the recent question, the screen remains on that foundry loading thing until the server logs me out for being inactive for too long. no matter how long i wait, i can't edit my projects.... its too bad too, cause i use to enjoy creating these foundry missions.

i know it ain't the computer, it's a great one, brand new too, connection great, the game works fine, it's just when trying to edit with the foundry...... :( lucky me i guess . lol

oh well.... if anyone else experiences this please post here too, surely i am not the only one who is unable to edit projects?

also if anyone thinks of an idea on how to fix this problem please let me know too.

you all rock!! Thanks for the replies!

I' ll reply the moment i read a reply, so if it takes time to reply it would only mean i had not seen the post yet. but once i see one i will reply.

greatly appreciate all your help . :)

Hi, sorry for the long wait for a reply on this, Primar,

i was (and am) so deppressed about this foundry issue, that i stayed away from the topic for a while. :( still sad about this,, and still having the same issues , (i also find it very strange that no one else seems to speak up about the same problem, as surely i am not the only one with the problem, perhaps i'm the only one brave enough to admit the problem? i don't know, i hope not , lol, i think everyone has alot of guts to speak up about things on the forums , yet not many seem to speak about this...) anyhow in answer to your questions, the answers will be for both the my old computer i have and the computer i'm using now:

1 : both, new and old projects

    2 : yes

    3 : PC windows 10

    4 : well said lol

sorry all, i don't know how often i'll check the forum , its not personal, i am just soo deppresssed over this issue when ever i play STO , that i try to forget about , as its not even working with the windows 10 PC i have now...

i really was hoping they would address this issue, by now? but i guess not. there is no way i am the only one with this issue, perhaps i am one of the few brave enough to speak about it? and if that is so, i find that hard to believe as well lol .

alrighty all, ya all stay cool alright,

and if ya wanna be real cool, help me out with this , speak up here about this issue if you have it, or if you know of a way to fix it please feel free to put your ideas down, (and stay cool , don't fight like little ones aight? aight . peace )

    - (also, most likely i wont be back for a bit to this post, cause i get so deppressed about it, don't take it personall all, but please keep posting, cause i will return :) thanks all , ye all rock )

It really sounds like a particular problem. In all my time using the Foundry I haven't seen this issue occur anywhere else. What I will recommend before going to the next step is:

    1. Check your home network.

ISP, Modem, Router, everything. Run pathping and tracert diagnostic tests (instructions in the STO networking support forum). You may not have general connection issues but you need to eliminate (not just plausibly shrug off) the possibility that it is a particular point in your networking setup which is interfering with the connection to the Foundry servers. Anything you have now that you had when the problem first arose is a suspect. Networking interactions can be complicated so sort through the issue thoroughly. For example: if you have a laptop, install STO and head over to a library or coffee shop. Alternatively, take your PC to a friend or family member's house. If you encounter the exact same problem at another site, then you know it's not a local issue. But if the Foundry works there, then you can start down the chain to find exactly what piece of local equipment is causing you issues (could be yours or the ISP.)

Another test you can try: create a new account, play enough to unlock the Foundry, try it again. If the issue comes up, then it's a local networking problem. If it doesn't, there's probably a problem with your account.

If all that's a no go, then I would recommend reaching out to our community manager (Ambassador Kael) directly (forum PM). No one in the community can look into the Foundry's back end. Maybe there's more Cryptic can do, but you need to be sure that the issue you're handing off is in fact theirs (if it turns out that you have an old modem, crappy ISP, or a weird networking protocol engaged, there's not much they can do.)

Worst case scenario: if the second account thing works (but Cryptic isn't able to find the primary problem) then just log in with separate accounts for playing STO and creating missions in the Foundry. Tips won't transfer and you won't be able to rework old projects, but it gets you back in and lets you move forward.
