Happy Sinterklaas! Half of me is of Dutch descent, so I have a vague childhood memory of visiting him and Zwarte Piet once.

We usually have this lineup: Nikolaus und Krampus. Nikolaus brings small gifts for the good kids, while Krampus takes away the bad ones in his basket.

Sinterklaas is off such importance that even the UN has started to interfere.
    http://www.dutchnews.nl/news/archives/2015/08/un-committee-calls-for-changes-to-zwarte-piet-negative-stereotypes/
This program, though reasonably normal at times, seems to have a strong affinity to classes belonging to the Cat 2.0 program. Questerius 2.7 will break down on occasion, resulting in garbage and nonsense messages whenever it occurs. Usually a hard reboot or pulling the plug solves the problem when that happens.

No, thats because that debate has spread to the point somebody asked an UN commitee to take a look at that specific traditions. And that is all I will say on the Zwarte Piet discussion. The STO forums are neither the place nor contain the people have that debate.

Was it the chicken or the egg.. did the UN committee ignite the debate or did it get involved as a result of a debate.
Personally i feel the UN committee has a tainted opinion on the matter due to being largely American and the still unresolved racism issues which plague that country. That by itself makes the committee IMO unqualified to make the determination about the nature of "zwarte piet".

But "zwarte piet" and potential biased UN committees are indeed a discussion for another time and place.
