Carrier pet AI improvement

I know it's been mentioned a lot in other places, but I couldn't find it in this section. This is for everyone to explain why we need a carrier pet AI overhaul. Begin discussion...

    Point shooty things (DCs, DHCs, etc.) at enemy, instead of going in a lazy circle plinking at the ship with turrets would be a great start.

    Improve all AI if they have too...would be much better for the game than just stacking more hull and shields on ships.

    Had high hopes for the Calisto, great at launch but after the first run it goes stupid and slow.

    Not just pet AI updates, we need an across the board update to make all NPCs use either the majority of their weapons properly or to make them use the most damaging weapons properly .

    Under ideal circumstances though there should be an AI for cruisers, escorts and science ships with pets being dropped into the nearest category perhaps with an extra line to specifically avoid warp core breaches.

    Why we need it? NPCs in general are stupid and offer no challenge, as a side effect carrier pets for players are useless and often reduce the potential damage output of a given ship. From a financial point of view, ships that aren't effective don't sell and with yet another carrier coming up soon, it makes sense to spend money now on an investment that might last 5 years or more, that can be carried over to future games and that can boost carrier sales and general player interest in the game, rather than squander the potential of a ship class and ultimately a game.
