Expose & Exploit

Do you take advantage of the Expose & Exploit strategy during ground-combat? I do. It is fun, but I am not certain that it is necessary. Some guns, like the Sonic Antiproton Assault Mini-Gun are so powerful, that you do not need to E&E with them.

I will take advantage of an Exploit opportunity if it presents itself, but I don't tend to swap between an Expose-creating gun and an Exploiting gun during combat.

I build my away teams around expose/exploit. I have about half my team with expose weapons (usually assault rifles or miniguns), and the other half with exploit weapons. I myself carry a split beam rifle. Additionally, I usually begin engagements by throwing a photon grenade, which sometimes exposes an enemy because I have a trait that does that.

Unfortunately, I keep in mind one overarching thought - my away team is full of idiots who don't know when to use Secondary Fire to Exploit. Therefore, I usually carry a Sniper Rifle myself (personal preference) and equip my BOffs with Pulsewave Assaults, Full Auto Rifles or Dual/Stun/or Wide-Beam pistols so that they can create Expose for my Sniper Rifle to Exploit... on the rare occasion that I equip a BOff with an Exploit weapon, it's usually something like a Split-Beam Rifle so that they at least have a chance of actually Exploiting an Exposed enemy... I think this is part of the reason I'm liking some of the Rep weapons in recent years, especially the Dyson Proton Rifle since its secondary fire shifts from Expose to Exploit based on the target's state, allowing the weapon to compensate for BOffs who don't seem to know what they're doing...

I mostly use my Bridge Officers to hold the reputation and featured episode sets I'm not using myself, so for the most part they have Exploit weapons. I can't really rely on them to do anything specific anyway. I prefer to use the Dyson set, including the rifle which can Expose with its primary fire, so I'll get Exploit shots occasionally from my own Exposes but I don't go out of my way to try to cause it.
