There's also the tendency for a lot of folks to make a snap judgement and stereotype you as being "hopelessly lost in your little own world" if you go out of your way to make it self-evident that you've spent a considerable amount of time contemplating the most perfect and personally satisfying ship (or character) name you can.
Personally, I don't give a rat's TRIBBLE what others think of me, to be honest. If they don't like me or my habits, they're cordially invited to go to hell.
And it didn't take me long to figure out what I'm going to name my carrier.
U.S.S. is a Star Trek thing, probably because he was from the United States. It doesn't make a lot of sense to me when he should've created his own prefix or something.
The ship was initially meant to be named 'Yorktown' but was renamed at the last minute because of the launch of the United States revolutionary new warship the Enterprise class Nuclear Powered aircraft carrier and her predesesor from World War II. The first and only of her class she innovated technologies that transformed navies across the world.
So you could always name your new carrier Yorktown and be smugly content that only the biggest trekkies will get the reference.
"U.F.S." ("United Federation Starship") would have been an awesome (and less american centric) prefix. Especially since you could use it on any ship that's part of the Federation.
Even Janeway often hailed Voyager as a "federation starship" a lot of the time. I don't recall her often saying U.S.S.
So U.F.P. wouldn't be much a change imo. Plus I think it has a nice ring to it, and its more broad just like the federation itself. "This is the United Federation Starship Enterprise..." i like it lol.
If i ever purchase the ship I will name it "USS access to pilot escort", I'll level it for the trait and then dismiss the monstrosity.
This program, though reasonably normal at times, seems to have a strong affinity to classes belonging to the Cat 2.0 program. Questerius 2.7 will break down on occasion, resulting in garbage and nonsense messages whenever it occurs. Usually a hard reboot or pulling the plug solves the problem when that happens.
Unfortunately you can't do names that long. I tried to name a ship something like "Dawn of Virinat" and that was too long for it.

Might as well call it "Big Bird" and use the yellowish colour scheme i can find. It's not as if i would use it for a single minute after acquiring the trait.

Apart from everything Old Raven Man said, you will have snap judgements about almost everything you encounter on STO. I always have an immediate image of the player in my head whenever I see an Orion with the "seductive" stance. Probably more my problem than theirs. And I love naming stuff, be it cities in Civilization, be it boffs or ships here, be it my characters in other RPGs. And after all, this is an RPG and a game (thus escapism), so why not escape to a role I like?

Otherwise I would be tempted to fly my trusty Miranda class "USS My Other Ship's A Vonph".
My Breen carrier is already the "Europa"... So I'm thinking of decommissioning Science Destroyer and appropriating its name... "U.S.S. Feros"
