Tour the Galxay: How much EC?

sonsofcainsonsofcain Member Posts: 63 Arc User
So from conversations I've had with other players, it seems some people are getting around 1mi EC per quadrant on Tour the Galaxy (w/ a lvl. 60 toon). I basically have to complete both quads to even sniff a mil EC. Can anyone give me some clarification on this?

Thanks in advance

Currently its impossible to even complete the Beta Quadrant, you just dont have enough time. Alpha Quadrant maybe, but no way in hell can anyone do Beta, anyone tells you otherwise they're either lying, or a wizard. With a decent warp speed you can do about half of Beta Quadrant and on average players get around 500k-750k EC each run.

1 mil per quadrant is a lie. It's close to 1 mil for the full tour (both quadrants).

I did this for the first time only a week ago, and Beta Quadrant is doable (characters level 50+). Fill 6 levels of the Driver Coil skill, and use the Assimilated Engines (Omega Rep) and the Solanae Overcharged Core (I forget where it comes from). I finished both quadrants using the Dauntless, which has a faster/longer slipstream.

I've been using this route, but I'm thinking about making a route better suited for more slipstream:
    Sanek
    Qo'noS
    Khitomer
    New Romulus
    Mylasa
    Gamma Eridon
    Pheben
    Iconia
    Vorn
    Alini
    Lirss
    Vendor
    Argelius
    Virinat
    Archanis
    Drozana
    Traelus
    Risa
    Orion
    Teneebia
    Nimbus
    TRANSWARP to Defera
    Defera
    Arawath
    Algira
    DS9
    Corwin
    Betazed
    Chapel
    Tellar
    Mizar
    Tzenketh
    Ferenginar
    Breen

And if you get adventurous, you can try keybinding the route... http://bit.ly/STOTourTheGalaxy

Thanks for the replies. And I have completed both quads several times with 9 points on DC, Assimilated Engines, Obilesk Core, and Diplomatic Immunity/Raid Party in a Fleet Phantom.

Thanks for this. I've probably done TtG only a couple of times ever and back before the quadrants were changed. Does the change make this mission different? Are certain ships better to run?

This really helped with route planning:

Personally, I use the "optimal" route for the Beta Quad, then warp to defera.

You will get 925k for completing both Alpha and Beta quadrants. I know this for a fact because i have been doing the tour myself each day.
what you will need to complete with time to spare, is the assimilated engines from the Omega rep, you will need someone to grant you diplomatic immunity which from getting rank 3 in diplomacy doffing, and also need raid party which is the klingon equivalent of diplomatic immunity. If you have those 3, you should have no problems completing the tour. Anyone says it is impossible to do, just hasnt figured out how to do it yet.
It took me a about 4 attempts to figure out a path to take to actually complete it. each attempt drew me closer to the finish line, but each attempt i used the engines, DI and RP. If you use those, you will eventually get it :)

I would also add that turning plays a very big part of Tour the Galaxy. In some cases, it's more efficient to slow down (<1/4) to get yourself facing the next destination than to take a big sweeping arc ar full speed. I would also take the SST mod on my core over a 0.2 slipstream bonus. Having 100% turn in slipstream is definitely worth it.

I am uncertain how much the mission changed.

A few ships have faster slipstreams that last twice as long (60 sec) as the normal slipstream (30 sec). The cooldowns are also doubled, but the speed is very nice if you save it for parts of the route that don't have much turn.

    • Odyssey Star Cruiser - Advanced Quantum Slipstream Drive (Warp 22)
    • Chimera - Advanced Quantum Slipstream Drive (Warp 22)
    • Peghqu' - Advanced Quantum Slipstream Drive (Warp 22)
    • Daeinos - Advanced Quantum Slipstream Drive (Warp 22)
    • Experimental Science Vessel - Hyper-Advanced Quantum Slipstream Drive (Warp 22)
    • Multi-Mission Science Vessels - 2-Piece Set Bonus: Chroniton Integrated Quantum Slipstream Drive (Warp 24)

What I'm working on is calculating the max distance traveled at slipstream, and the minimum distance traveled between slipstreams, and designing a new route based on those distances.

As other have stated it is possible to complete the mission. And to prove the point I've documented a run a little over a month ago. Now the route is far from efficient compared to what others have linked but was done to prove that it was doable. Also I've not run this since Cryptic removed the hourly events and the ability for us to run the shortened version.

I can get ALL of Beta Quad done plus 5 from Alpha in my Oddy with Borg engines and a Core that reduces Slipstream cool down. Get DI and RP and I could do more probably. Top speed I've had is 42+ Transwarp. Without using Slipstream I can just get Beta done with the Engines alone at 20.93 TW. I find that doing the outer sectors first helps, as you're almost flying straight line all the way, with few corrections for course change.

MACO and Fleet Engines are other alternatives you can use for a native boost to sector speed.
