Captains Table

Hi, I have been a lifetime subscriber for a while now and I was wondering what the point of Captains table is. Everything thats there is accessible on Earth so why spend the extra time going to Captains table? The only thing different is the concierge that talks about a letter she isn't allowed to give out yet. I guess I am just confused on the point. Let me know what you think, thanks!

Lack of Gorn jokes? Seeing NPC's that you can't usually see?

Otherwise, this zone is long overdue for a redo, which, as an LTS, should not happen until every other social zone in this game is up to currrent ESD specs. AKA years.

    First City first, please.

I don't play a lot on KDF side, mostly because I hate First City.

DS9 might be in the world already from what I've heard, it got pushed back, though.

Captains' Table would be nice, but really, they need to figure out a unique incentive that would get us to want to go there without making the FtP players scream "PtW!!!!!"

Meh I got no interest in captains table, since you don't even remember going there, so whats the point in it?

I don't know I just thought for $200 dollars they could add something to captains table other than stuff like the exchange and a bar.

There should be a transwarp power to reach it that has no cooldown.

Great idea since you were never officially there.

Close the table, wasted space for some time now. Give us 20% off everything everyday. Now that's a good deal for a lifer. Lifers will most likely spend more than free players, help us help you.

^This. Totally this. I was thinking this is a reasonable thing, giving LTS holders a "employee discount" of sorts in the CStore. Since were getting free zen anyway, they wouldnt have much to loose, and may even gain if we buy our own zen.

First rule about Captain's Table is you don't talk about Captain's Table.

Second rule about Captains' Table is...

Wait, what? Pretty sure Cryptic wants people to know about the Captains' Table, except they don't want people to think of it as useless...

Saw this thread and my first thought was "Captain's Table still exists? Huh." I've not even thought of going to it in years. Every so often people make threads giving suggestions on how to make it worth going to, but Cryptic obviously doesn't care... improving it won't sell a key or etc. so it just languishes. All I can say, it's a good place to be alone.

the items like the ships, bank slots, inventory slots and such more then make up for the cost of LTS that's before you even factor in the 500zen stipend every month.
captains table is just there just so you can say there is a place in the game that only lifers can go, the mere fact that theres nothing to do when you get there is immaterial.

Sarcasm noted--but you're already in an exclusive area for rich people, my friend. If you're playing STO, you're one of the world's richest persons. In 2011 the global median per-capita annual income was the equivalent of 1255 USD, meaning that a computer capable of playing STO would consume--at a minimum--half of the individual's income for the year (if the computer could be bought at that price in the country of residence at all). It would have been about 11% of the income for a family of four at that income level, and they'd have to be paying for a decent internet connection, too--assuming one was available.

    VIP Poker room.
Gamble EC, Dil, and Zen at the tables.

Low stakes, mid stakes and high stakes.

Problem solved, Captains table becomes busy will Gamblor traffic.
I'd spend quite a bit of time there if poker was available, fleecing everyone out of their Ec, Dil and Zen
Would make the Captains Table a bustling place in one fell swoop.

Think of it as another place to lose... "spend" your monthly stipend....

Ah yeah, the Captain's Table. A place with so little use that as soon as you arrive there it assumes you made a mistake and you receive a hail asking if you wish to leave.

To be fair, I only ever really use as a place to leave characters immediately prior to the servers being taken offline to apply a season or expansion update. The CT map is never particuarly busy, which means one avoids any login issues caused by numerous players logging in on he same map at the same time.

You do realise we'll all do that now? :D

There have been numerous threads on the subject in the past, many with good ideas. None have been acted on. Other Cryptic games have a Captains table equivalent with some what useful features and special LTS only venders. With crafting and Doff access from your UI and bridge maps, the table has little use for now.

Captain table is a neat looking place, but thats just it. Once you seen it once, there is no reason to comeback. I think adding warp gates, that instantly transfer your ship to various galactic hubs, such as DS9, NR, Qronos, RIsa, and other places, without activating a transwarp cooldown, will already improve its usefulness. Adding a simple Dabo table, will also increase a number of visitors, together with a shipyard functionality, such as ESD.
Adding even more bonus perks to the place, will further enhance its appeal. I think its something that is worth doing. If cryptic manages to make that place worthwhile, more F2P players might purchase a sub, simply to gain access to VIP area... such being a human desire to gain access to VIP places.

That is absolutely bizarre to me. First City is one of my favorite game environments. My only complaint is that there isn't more missions there.
