Klingon Ships to get

svindal777svindal777 Member Posts: 856 Arc User
Think about buying a new KDF ship and using my Ferasan more. But I know very little about what is good and bad about the KDF ships.

I was think of getting the Mat'Ha, going straight to the fleet version. Is the console and trait good to have?

Also, any of the other ships as good, better? Kor or Qib maybe?
Well excuse me for having enormous flaws that I don't work on.

The Mat'Ha console is like a scatter voley. Not worth using it. Also Overwhelming Force is not a good trait. First part of the trait need to use beam overload, for a underpowered charged particule burst and second part use high yield to cast a photonic shockwave that can repel the ships out of your firing range. The ship itself is quite good with its 5 fwd weapons.

The Qib is one of my favorite KDF ship, but only in fleet version. The trait is amazing, adding some turn rate when fire canon/turret up to +10 turn, very useful for slow turn rate ship. The console is fine but need to be used at close range. The ship itself have pretty nice console setup in fleet version (4 tac -3 when no fleet-, 5 eng, 2 sci) and good Boff setup (lt cmd tac, cmd intel, lt cmd eng). The manoeuvrability is very good for a battlecruiser and you have a decent survivability. Also, as an intel ship, you have access to expose weakness, which is very good against dreads in pve.

Don't have the Kor yet so can't tell you anything about that one, but it's a bird of prey, and bird of prey got flanking bonus dmg ;)
I am from Belgium and english isn't my main language, sorry if I make mistakes.

just a shame its so damn ugly. but then again the op is a cat . this flounder of a ship wont be any worse off with littler boxes stashed away in every corner of the ship.

If in doubt, Pilot Escorts (or Raptors). Fun to play, massive damage potential, excellent maneuverability, invulnerability granting pilot ship abilities. They are already Fleet level ships, too.

The Science variant probably has the best trait of the three, if you don't want to buy the full pack. It might also have the best console, or at least the one with the best utility - it's basically a moving gravity well ability, similer to the Romulan singularity projectile. Extra crowd control is always welcome, isn't it?

    Admittedly, the Mat'Ha looks better.
The Kor is neat, all universal slots give you plenty of experimentation potential, and it comes with enhanced battle cloak and even better maneuverability than the Pilot Escorts. It's fragile, of course, but that is also part of the fun IMO. The trait is great if you want to run a cannon-based build.

Matha is good regardless of the trait and console. It's a 5/2 Raptor with decent boff seats.

You really can't go wrong with the Pilot Raptors, either.

Kurak is a pretty good Battle Cruiser with a great trait.

I recommend the Fleet Tor'khat retrofit. It's a T5 ship, upgradeable to T5-U. If you own the Vor'kang vessel, You can mix'n'match parts to assemble a unique appearance from the Vor'cha, Tor'khat and Vor'kang. Or you can have it look like any one of those ships entirely. It's definitely a solid battlecruiser and can dish out and take a lot of punishment. It has a good turn rate that can be improved with bonuses and a simple but effective layout for a battlecruiser. If I'm not mistaken, upgrading it to T5-U adds an additional engineering console slot. 5E 4T 2S. At level 60, T5-U unmodified hull is 45,540. Weapons layout is standard 4 forward and 4 aft. I like flying this ship.

I don't own the Kor or Qib, but I had the Mat'Ha since it was introduced.
Just look at it as the new T6 baseline for KDF escorts.
It's designated as an Intel ship but you'll end up using the standard HE-ST combo on the UP Lt. station.
The ship trait CAN be fun and must be the cat's meow, because it was already made cross-faction :p
The console takes up valuable realty with a cooldown that can be timed with a calendar.
If you still want it, get the Fleet version after unlocking the ship trait because the Fleet Mat'Ha won't have it.
The Mat'Ha will get you from 50 to 60 and through advanced PvE's...the minivan of STO ships.

I don't recommend the Kor, as it isn't a true successor to the T5-U B'rel imo.
But if you don't have the B'rel and you have your heart set on a BoP as your first KDF ship choice, go ahead.
    NO to ARC

the matha is ok but my favorite kdf at the moment is the pilot raptor (l like the sci flavor). I really like the pilot manuvers. Matha might put out more dps with over-ride safties, its a tossup because the piloting attack pattern removes all weapon drain which is also pretty hot.
