Technology points required per level increase

I've probably missed an obvious notice or post, but is there a list anywhere of how many Tech points it takes to upgrade 'Item of type X from Level Y to Y+1'.

For instance, I might have a Mk IV Beam Array I like the mods on. I see a Experimental Upgrade on the exchange for (just tossing numbers here) 1 mill EC, a 1.5x Tech points for 500K, a 2x Tech points for 1.2 million. It's double Tech point weekend. I have to decide which to buy, however I have no way of knowing in advance, it seems to me, just how far my Tech points will go.

Will the upgrade take me to MK VI? VII? If I put on the 1.5X does it add another level? Does the 2X gain me another level past that or take me to 'just shy' of a level? I don't know how to work this out and although I can see lots of spreadsheets saying "It takes 9 upgrade kits to go from MkX to MKXIV" or similar things, there is no that says:

Beam Array Mk I: 0 points
Beam Array Mk II: 500 points
Beam Array Mk III: 1000 points

and so on. I may be misunderstanding the way points work even, maybe they vary by rarity or something.

If there is such a resource please point me at it, would be much appreciated.
