Clothing

This game is horribly restrictive.

Your making it worse by your efforts. To what goal?

Right now those who find exploits can manipulate the look of their characters more than people that pay money for the look.

Unique clothing is important to players you should be working towards making things more open rather than less.

At the very least, PLEASE make the Thrall outfit work with shoulder capes. Please?

That is the one and only thing keeping me from buying it.

The fact people want more tailor features and not less is probably voiced more often here than not. I unfortunately have to agree.

Without naming any third-parties specifically - there is a game, in which a 'glitch' was frequently used and it was considered fun for the players. What did the devs do? Re-release it as a game feature, after fixing the original issue in the game & modifying it slightly, so it was even more fun to do.

And why I'm talking about this? It'd be neat if the tailor 'glitch' was actually similarly released, as an actual game feature. Don't care if it's paid, for Zen. But I think I'm not alone who thinks that would be a good step forward & some of us would support the game developpers if they did this, rather than either ignoring or continuing to restrict things for us in the character tailor. We purchase and gain the outfits in the same/similar way other people collect ships. And the devs don't go restricting the ship collectors from using the ships anywhere they want, quoting some 'canon' reasons - and outfits, unlike the ships, have no actual impact on the gameplay, aside of aesthetics (no additional perks, armor, stats improving your character) - which only adds up to the mind-boggliness of these restrictions.

Unfortunately, and I hate to say this - the devs are rather not forthcoming, and character outfits are still being fussed about. For reason I don't comprehend, especially in times when they release ships like Herald dreads, Krenim weapon ships, Tholian ships, Undine ships..etc. I hate using this argument, but if these ships are less 'canon' breaking, than allowing us using more outfit combinations & (existing, but restricted to players) tailor features... I can only facepalm at that and walk away, to avoid wasting my time; as that'd be hardly a productive discussion.

I'd definitely pay Zen for a total tailor unlock.

The game really needs some more off-duty clothes for each faction, something for shoreleave, or undercover missions, taken from both some old series background extras and more original designs.

Like Tholian Silk Robe's, got three of them, then read only fed, really.... come on guys. Why cannot the Romulan and Klingon boys and girls wear them too.
    Positive thoughts.

I'd point out that even in the cases of those ships mentioned in this thread, a good imagination can excuse a whole lot of hugely unlikely stuff with enough creativity. I've seen an author do some interesting stuff with a humanoid crew piloting a captured Tholian vessel, and I've actually had my Devidian captain, with a lot of help from his Aenar XO, successfully commandeer an Undine ship...though the latter only worked because of some of the superficial similarities in abilities that the Devidians (even one raised on Earth as he was) all have, to those of the Undine.

@gulberat - my argument that 'weird' ships are given out was not to keep those from popping out. By all means, keep them coming, let people fly and play what they want. I merely want the same treatment for the character costumes, when it comes to freedom of the theme we want to portray & play. I don't think it's unreasonable to ask for that.

I was actually supporting your point. ;) If people can be creative enough with the weird ships to come up with an adequate explanation, then there are many costume pieces that could occasion similar stories and work out well. While I wouldn't release EVERY asset to every toon, there's definitely a lot more that could be done.

What would 2410 off-duty clothing look like, should Cryptic examine samples from sci-fi art websites?

    +100000 for more clothing/customisation etc

They could make so much $$$ if they added more outfits to the C Store, especially for Romulans!

I love making each of my characters look a certain way, but some of the restrictions are silly. Like why can't my Ferengi have his Ferengi jacket as his primary outfit? And why can't his bridge officers wear it at all?

The only thing that bugs me a little bit about all the outfits we have available is that on ESD, no one is actually wearing their Starfleet uniform! haha. You'd think Quinn would pull as all up on that. Haha

    ^Agreed.

I'd love to have the Ferengi clothing moved to the Uniform category, so that BOFFs can wear them as well. My Ferengi captain and crew would certainly appreciate it. :)
