Approximating RSE/Tal Shiar uniforms with costume pieces available to players

Since we only get partial pieces... I've come up with a means to approximate the rest. It's not perfect, but it's close enough for you to get the idea, and to know at-a-glance what it's supposed to be.

The top row are defaults at each rank/level (screen-capped from Foundry); the second row is my approximation. I have the 24th C. Romulan costume set... but if you don't have it, you can simply leave those items out without affecting the look too much.

Note: This only works for KDF allied Romulans...

Can't say I'm a fan of the Tal'Shiar, but... wow! Nicely done!

STO isn't canon, and neither are any of the books.

In my defense, my intent was to create a Romulan Imperial Navy uniform... not my fault that the Tal Shiar don't have their own dress code...

Thanks. I honestly expected a less-warm response. Given the typical timbre of most posts on these forums, I was prepared to attempt to fend off unsuported, non-constructive criticism (aka trolling).

Great idea using the TNG sashes in place of the missing Tal Shiar ones!

Eh, the Romulan sub-forum is usually more about debate than trolling. And it'll always depend on the nature of the post. Something like this, where you've tried to use the game's limited Romulan uniform options to develop additional things - yeah, that'll get you a good response from all corners of the Romulan polity

It is pretty good. However, I would point out that the TS Chestpiece, is only avaliable on males (the last time I checked). I have a more comprehensive code on hand, if you want it; though it has to be updated often, as the tailor gets shifted around every few months.

    Tal'Shiar/Reman Resistance/Romulan Nemesis uniform, pls.

You're correct. The TS chestpiece is male-only, the TS belt is female-only. I substituted the 24th C Rom belt & chestpiece for the missing item... for those who don't have the 24C. Rom package, just leave it out... Chestpiece on males, belt on females--either way, you still have the symbolism of "this person is loyal to the Empire".

Other than the boots for the high ranking Tal Shiar I think it looks good...shame you get so few pieces of the uniform...and after that some of the pieces are split by gender.
Can't have a honest conversation because of a white knight with power

The variety of pieces is what I am most interested in, the colors they use to distinguish each rank, well not so much my likes, but I cannot fault it!

I wrestled with that one too. At first, I just left them all with the Tal Shiar boot, changing the color of the front to emulate the V covering--and making the straps "trim" color... but it just seemed awkward. I actually liked the shape of the Rom-Klingon 2 boot better, but the "trim" texture is metallic and it always looked like shades of silver, no matter what palette color I used--couldn't get the Gold I needed. So, I settled on Rom-Klingon 1 boot instead because of the vaguely V-shaped pattern.

I think the uniform/rank color was just variations on a theme (shades of gray) with special characters getting special colors, like Janek's purple tunic.
I extrapolated, based on in-game resources, that the sash and shoulder pads indicate career/position: purple for Tac, brown for Eng, and green for Sci. Shoulder pads, seems to indicate starship commander & up. With career-colored pads (purple in my example) being used for "Captain" equivalent, black for flag officers (SubA-VAdm) and Red for senior leaders (Adm & FAdm). It's not a perfect match because the rank/titles used for NPCs with the sash and/or shoulder pads are used inconsistently. We've seen both Commander and Subcommander with sash-only and shoulders-only. We've seen Commanders with shoulder-pad only as well as pads & sash. Taris even wore a modified Uhlan uniform. But I think my example is a fairly close approximation of Star Navy to Starfleet rank equivalences, showing a more stable progression through the ranks.
