I don't buy anything for my 3rd in line alternate character, they are really just for farming purposes but I just tried it out today and WOW it's a really good ship. The boff layout is great, especially the LT tac and the universal Lt cmd, the awesome turn rate meant I could do two builds, dbb or a nice cannon build. Then there's the extra fighter bay and to top it off, something I adore, pop up bits on ships when they activate power. I loved it on the Astika, and I'm LOVEING it on this AND IT HAS A BATTLE CLOAK!!!!!! To top it all off, you can upgrade this to a T5-U!!!!! I'm glad they gave this one out, it actually gave me an incentive to put more time into this character for a proper build. I really hoped they would've done that for the klingon char but yeah, that carrier with lt tac didn't float my boat at all.

To the OP, what did you put in its hanger bay?
I wanted to get the elite swarmers, but A) didnt yet have access, but B ) didnt have alot of credit anyway, so i got the elite scorpions. Not sure yet if i regret it, still testing it out but i think their kinda ineffectual. They spam HY plasma torps but more often than not the target is dead by the time it reaches it. I was laughing how stupid they were. If anything i wasted dil and ill get the swarmers eventually.
You can save some resources and just get the Advanced Swarmers from the Dilithium Store. With the current state of carrier pets, there is no difference between Advanced and Elite pets. Either way, you're not going to get a whole lot from your hangar bay, they have nerfed carrier pets into absolute oblivion over the last year.
I just started playing this ship so it was just the normal plasma weapons and normal everything while I decide what weapon to use. I initally wanted to go with the withering disruptor beam build, since for some reason, the lovely terran box gave me two beams even though I haven't unlocked the T3 store yet (I'm assuming they did give out the beams but just in a rare one rather than a V rare before you finished that tier). But then I found out there's this fun console it came with that came with the Singularity focused beam which I found it amazingly fun to play with. This of course did the plasma damage, which I guess threw the disruptor build out window. THat and the fact the scorpion did plasma damage meant I didn't have much choice but to stick with plsama build for now (assuming the pets gets boosted by the tac console as well).
Perhaps, I'll see if I can craft some crtd x3 normal plasma dbbs. All I need now is to buy the fleet version of this ship, an upgrade token, cryptic to design a new plasma omni beam and I'm good to go.
This ship has got me quite excited.
I'm loving being able to properly dogfight with the Terran ships in MI, getting behind a galaxy class and hammering it with DHCs is great fun.
Even with a cannon build its proving to be quite a ship.

Is this true, can i get more people to agree with that?
The only diff i can see is that they have one more level of weapon ability. It doesnt mean much to me, but i asked one person and they flat out answered elite was better, but i wasnt sure they understood the real question and was just drinking the STO kool-aid.
And swarmers are from fleet spire, not in dil store, my fleet is waiting to rank up.
Personally, I've felt that it's less about Advanced vs. Elite pets, but more about the type of pets. Elite is obviously that extra bit better stats-wise, mind you.
On my Ar'kif I have Adv. Deltas, which are a 4-per-bay. Right off the bat, I find them better than the Scorpions at any level, which are 6-per-bay. Less pets per bay just survive longer, which means they're way more likely to level up during combat. It's part of the reason why the elusive frigate pets are so impressive, like the Drones.
its a plasma energy weapon. so yes, it's boosted. just like the faeht's plasma lance.
For the very brief interval one or two pets are alive at one hairline of health, they attract all the aggro towards my ship somehow, especially the borg invisitorps of doom.
One ISA was spent literally fleeting combat, shields up, with evasives, ram speed, rock n roll, etc. over and over. A fleet mate confirmed this in their parser. DPS was quite low too, naturally.
My Rom does not have the monetized fixes like my Fed, which as something to do with Cryptic's unwillingness to release a single Romulan Carrier in forever, nevermind the story with science. But here's a T6 Federation Carrier, because the Kittens one just wasn't enough for Feds.
Somehow my elite drones on Scimitar do a bit better, as do elite yellowstones on feds despite only tickling the enemies and painting pretty blue puffs everywhere.
Actually there is a carrier version and one that is NOT a carrier
And they are the only Rom ships to have a hanger, save for the scimitar, so.......escort carriers, or as the Roms call it, tactical carriers.

Officerbatman, I don't think *any* ship in this game has a hanger.
Anyway if we are at carriers, I really dunno what will be the incentive to buy the new fed carrier. As it was pointed out pets in their current form are TRIBBLE. I mean the c-store carrier pets. Lockbox *frigate* pets are ofc okay. Or at least worth the click on the launch button lol.
Anyway, they will need to overhaul the pet system from the ground-up if the want me to even give a passing thought to the new carrier. I will buy the 2 year old DSD pack sooner than a new carrier...
I've found that Advanced pets can be farily survivable if they're 4-per-bay, like Deltas and Runabouts. Even in Advanced queues. I usually have them on intercept mode, so they're not as likely to run off and get wrecked right away.
Also this is my opinion but Romulan Plasma and Elite Scorpion Fighters synergies well with the Ar'kif.

so you get free upgrade after on the fleet version if you upgrade the normal one? I didn't know that. Here I am saving up for enough EC for a fleet module.
Either way, I got the T6 Escort Carrier Bundle, so the freebie was nice for the console, but I haven't actually used the T5. The T6 is a sweet ship. Easily my favorite Warbird to date.

I had to stare at this awhile wondering what this meant and why i was getting picked on, then it dawned on me. I miss spelled hangar. Oops.

"Tactical Carrier Warbird ≠ Escort Carrier"
Im trying to figure what the disconnect is. I think the point was lost when i was trying to reference a ship class. Strictly using titles from the game, most romulan ships are "warbirds", but an equivalancy can be made on which ones are "escorts" and "cruisers" etc.....im sorry i didnt make this clear for some to understand easily. The game clearly classifies this as a type of escort carrier hence being in a heavy escort carrier bundle. I do not play semantics.
