Something has to be done about people exploiting the lack of AFK penalty in Mirror Invasion. In 1 run tonight there were 2 guys from the same fleet that 'couldn't be bothered because you always get a reward and we're spending this time doff'ing'. They both flew off to the edge of the map and cost us a decent reward of marks. This is intolerable and quite frankly, I'm seething at the arrogant nature of these guys. Please Cryptic do something about this!!!
"You don't want to patrol!? You don't want to escort!? You don't want to defend the Federation's Starbases!? Then why are you flying my Starships!? If you were a Klingon you'd be killed on the spot, but lucky for you.....you WERE in Starfleet. Let's see how New Zealand Penal Colony suits you." Adm A. Necheyev.

They don't even do anything to people actively trolling and abusing other players so why would they even bother with a few afk players.
It's annoying as hell but very little will ever get done about it. There is an afk penalty system in place but more often than not it punishes innocent people so it's barely fit for purpose.
I'd love this TRIBBLE to get dealt with and there's a whole thread on this very forum discussing how they could improve the afk penalty but I think we're wasting our time.
If you really any to avoid that sort of behaviour completely then going in with trusted fleet mates or even on one of the channels would be your only option unfortunately.

They still get the rewards including the daily and these guys were bragging about this exploit. It's well known that these event STF's don't have the AFK system in place.
AFKers wet the bed. And suck. However...
Cryptic is encouraging this behavior in this event as it is hard-gated to 15 minutes, and even if you obliterate all of the mobs early, we as players are not rewarded for our performance or investment in gear, etc. We literally have to sit there with our thumb in an TRIBBLE of choice.
Additionally, the SB dying and/or closing a minuscule amount of portals has a minimal effect on final score, especially if its your Terran Daily. So yeah, this is the coop that Cryptic made and refuses to change because of some hard-and-fast rule about how long we need to be in front of a screen to get X-rewards, and the chickens are coming home to roost.
So very true sadly. You can literally sit there are do nothing, let the starbase repeatedly die, and still walk off with more rewards than doing in in normal with a perfect score.
I'm actually waiting patiently to see if I warp in to any runs where everyone goes AFK and just sits at the warp in point. It literally has no effect on your score.
I completely agree. Enough with the timegates in missions!
People have done runs like that in private. In pugs they usually shoot some terrans for show. Thing is, 10 minutes is too long even with doffing, admiralty and R&D projects to do. You'll probably still have time left to wait before the real mission (killing the dreadnought) starts.
Maybe if just waiting it out becomes the majority tactic (and it should, since spending that time with doff/admiralty assignments is more rewarding than closing the rifts), Cryptic will eventually change the mission so that your actions actually make a difference?
I figured that out by watching them one day, I still need to blow stuff so I do...
Sure the easy route is to do nothing but in most pug matches there's always another player needing help so i'll head over to help them fight off the zerg rush.
Sitting doing nothing....makes no sense to me, why even bother logging in?!?!
I believe the answer we're looking for is 'an over-inflated sense of entitlement and the feeling of why should I bother when I can use an exploit to get more free stuff (that I will complain about because it's not enough) and others will do my work for me, and also because I won't even get a meager slap on the wrists for my (lack of) brilliant effort'.
We've seen Cryptic slap exploits down faster than lightening before, so why are they allowing this exploit. I really, really would have liked a dev or someone from Cryptic to have commented on this.
LMFAO a dev come here to comment on this? Brother whatever you are on please share some with me ;0
Have you ever considered the fact the most players might simply be bored with "indirectly" being forced to run this mission X times 14 to 21 days 2 or 3 times per year? Naturally the rewards are what "indirectly" forces most of us players to run this on all of our toons.
They should keep the countdown in case people do poorly, but if team does well (25+closed rifts, defenses up to level 5, SB health 60-80% or better) it should move to final stage, thus rewarding teamwork and efficiency. Missions like these shouldn't allow for 5+minute coffee breaks.
That's why I love crystalline event far better. No timegates, and unless I end up with really bad PUGs, I can run it with all my 15 alts in an hour and a bit. Mirror? With all the doffing and now admiralty (both of them being more reward efficient), I can barely afford to run it 2/day.
It's not an "exploit." The mission objectives clearly say you win phase one automatically in 11 minutes no matter what you do. That's the way the mission is designed. There is no "work" to be done by anyone until the dreadnought appears. Just because you choose to jump through hoops for peanuts while waiting, doesn't mean other people have to.
All you have to do in that mission is to wait 11 minutes and kill the dreadnought. And that's exactly what people are doing.
Wrong, this IS an exploit. It does not say you will win phase one automatically either! The way it is supposed to work is you hold off the enemy for the 11 minutes before the Dread arrives, and it should be a failure if at any point, during the entire run, the HP of the starbase hits 0%, and we should see it explode. Just because by fault of design the station is indestructible, does not mean that people like you should leech off the hard work of others and this is precisely the reason why people like you should be booted out of the mission!
You sir, should be ashamed of yourself!
Sadly I have to agree with him, it's not an exploit. It may be an arsehole thing to do to your teammates, but it's not an exploit since the entirety of the first 11 minutes is purely optional. If you have no need for the marks, there's no reason to do the optional tasks to get more.
It's only after the dreadnought arrives that you actually have a task you have to complete.
I mean, for crying out load, cryptic could atleast make it so the station reaching 0 health would fail the mission.

Disagree 100%.. *IF* the lack of actions (AFK aka Leeching), enables a player to be rewarded the same rewards of a player that "actively" participates in the activity; It's an Exploit.
However, since the alleged "Exploit" does not appear to have any negative affects to Cryptic's Metrics, *OR* acutally enables the PLAYER to level faster than Cryptic wants (i.e. the "Tau Dewa" repulsive Nerf); then it does NOT matter to Cryptic.
The player base has been requesting the return of "TEAM KICK" capabilities for years. I for one think it's time for it to come back.
I would have love to seen this return for events such as this Mirror and CCE. I don't have enough finger and toes to count the number of runs with 2 or more AFK's in the group.. I've even see promient Fleet Names fo folks the go 40-60K out of the "play-zone" and just sit. They don't even bother to come back for the Dread.
However, I would add the addition of a 1 hour Penalty; for that event/STF for getting kicked. Maybe folks would get the message then.. In a "Social game" participation/collaboration with other players is what it's all about..
Or, as a final note, If folks want to AFK an event, have the common decency to CREATE YOUR OWN AFK GROUP and stay the frack out of groups that actually WANT to play the game..
tyvm.. Have fun; Be nice to each other.. :O)
Indeed. Lost count of how many have been reported. Whether anything is done or not, is not important, but as I've mentioned, I would appreciate it if someone would acknowledge this issue.......still waiting!
And right now, I'm sick and tired of this Mirror Event and the incompetence that is obvious that NONE of these people in the Development team even have played it if not on normal mode only. And now, let's talk about every thing wrong with this Mirror Invasion event:
1. Advanced should star Tom Cruise and be called: Mission Impossible.
No one cares about Normal mode in Mirror Invasion because it is too easy. Then you meet Mister Advanced mode, to begin my rant I will say it is impossible to save the Starbase for the first optional, it WILL always get to 0% HP regardless what you do or the team you have.
2. The bulls**ting DPS required.
I have eleven (11) characters which are all maxed out, and I mean they are EPIC QUALITY and fully MKXIV upgraded. My characters hit for close to 3,000+ PER hit from all their weapons, even my freaking turrets hit for around 1,000 or so buffed up. I have many friends with kick TRIBBLE gear and can do loads of damage (even surpassing that of 50,000), and I do this Mirror Invasion advanced and even with a team of 5 people with FULL EPIC GEAR and even at MKXIV quality... You will not save the station.
3. You will not close.
If you have 2 portals in an advanced Mirror Invasion appear next to each other, you will not get to close any of them. This is due because even the f**king frigates have over the top HP. By the time you kill all 3, you got 3 more spawning on you. Instead of having escorts, science vessels and frigates, you rather just replace everything with freaking dreadnoughts because the amount of HP they all have makes more sense.
4. Amazing AI gear.
The worse thing in advanced Mirror Invasion is the torpedo spreads the mobs do. These mobs will hit you for 30,000+ for EACH TORPEDO IN THE SPREAD. No, I am not saying that you are getting hit for 30,000+ in total, you are getting hit for 30,000+ PER TORPEDO in that spread. Never, no matter what gear you have in the game will you EVER get not even 20,000+ out of ONE torpedo in a spread. I do not care what the hell you are using or your gear quality or whatever. If you can hit that high you are exploiting something or just hacking. On top of this, it is not just one particular ship that has torpedo spread, 90% of them do. Only way you can hit 20,000+ (and that is a HUGE MAYBE because most of the time you will hit 15,000-17,000 on it) is using the Neutronic Torpedo Launcher from the Delta reputation. But this torpedo only fires 3 torpedos in a spread regardless what rank you use. But I'm talking about mobs hitting 30,000+ x6 in a spread, the mobs hit it nonstop, and most of the time it is even up to 40,000+.
5. The station will always fall.
As mentioned before, the station is impossible to save in Advanced. You have frigates with a cluster f**k of HP that take ages to kill. You have torpedo spreads coming at you from all sides at 30,000+ per torpedo, hell even the fighters that the flight decks release have around T4 escort hull and shields. You will always be outnumbered because it is impossible for one person to go around closing portals because the HP on the mobs is so high, it takes ages to kill just one, let alone 3 protecting the portal. Again, doesn't matter your team, it doesn't matter how amazingly geared you are, doesn't matter the "strategy" used. There is no freaking strategy in this, you will lose the damn station regardless what you do.
6. Final boss dreadnought is like 5 dreadnoughts in one.
Finally after losing the station and only closing one portal (if you are lucky) - here comes the boss dreadnought. You will never get the bonus on destroying it on time. Doesn't matter how amazing your DPS is, you will not do it. It has more HP then 5 Tactical Cubes in normal Borg runs. Not only its HP, but to take down its shields is close to impossible regardless how amazing your shield drains are. Did I mention its torpedo spreads can reach for 50,000+ per torpedo in the spread?.. Yeah, that too.
Conclusion.
This is the biggest bulls**ting STF ever added to this game. It is not fun, it is very frustrating, the main optionals are pointless to be in the STF because it is impossible to get them, your team just can't kill anything fast enough regardless of gear used or build, or set up for that matter - thank the lord it is an event and will go away soon.
Analysis.
Supposedly, normal mode is supposed to be for players who have TRIBBLE gear, or at least green to blue MKXII gear. Advanced should be for players who have Very Rare or Ultra Rare gear that is at least MKXIII+. Elites should be for players that have fully GOLD Epic gear and be fully upgraded to MKXIV. When you can not get not even the first optional with a full team with EPIC gear and MKXIV - something is wrong here.
I challenge you.
I want the Development team to steam this STF and show themselves saving the station on Advanced mode in Mirror Invasion. Quite frankly, it is obvious that the Development team does not even play these STFs at all. They probably play it just on normal, see everything is super easy and think it is fine. This message goes out to the Development team, I know you people won't steam anything because I know for a fact you will never save the station... ON ADVANCED. What the Development team is are highly incompetent morons that do not test out what they add to the game and this STF here is the total evidence of that.
If I am fully upgraded with Epic gear at MKXIV, I shouldn't be having problems much problems on an STF, let alone a full team that are rolling Epic + MKXIV.
On top of this, the new Mirror STF space is just like this as well.
