Carrier build

Recently returned to this game. and i got a carrier out of a box. it's my only T6 ship but i have no idea how to build it.

i assume i should go something like antiproton beams with the kinectic cutter.

but whats a good set for a carrier, the borg set perhaps? or the Kobali set?

    You need to be a bit more specific because just saying "carrier" dosen't give much info what ship it really is, there's a bunch of them by now.

    The set choice is fairly straightforward. 3 or 4 piece Iconian gives you the most damage under most circumstances, the exception maybe being if you are a science torp boat. The 2-piece Adapted Maco/KHG shield and engine gives you tons of aux power, the CC deflector gives you a tiny amount of energy weapon damage, and the combination of those things gives you a good boost to torpedo damage, but generally the Iconian set gives you the most damage if ye be running beams. Though pieces from the new Herald set might end up working their way into the rotation.

    The Kobali set is good for tanking, but so is the Aegis and Sol sets. But it does nothing for your damage, save keeping you alive to continue firing. And neither t6 carrier is really designed for tanking.

    Saying you simply have a carrier and want build help gives a poor starting point. We don't even know what carrier you have and what kind of gear, traits, etc. you have. We don't even know what playstyles you prefer.

    You could have a Recluse, Atrox, JHDC. All 3 are 2-hangar carriers but they're markedly different in what they can do.

    Me thinks that the OP has Vonph based on "Recently returned to this game. and i got a carrier out of a box." Being the only full carrier that comes out of a lockbox, and the Herald Lockbox being the current one anyway, it would make sense.

    He indicates that its a T6 carrier. There are only 2 of those, the Sarr Theln and the Vonph. Unless he's counting the myriad of Flight Deck Cruisers and Escorts like the Quas, Olaen, etc. Assuming all that, it'd have to be a Vonph, you can't pull a Sarr Theln out of a box. Still, I would have preferred not to have to work for it to give advice. Its also no great crime against humanity either.

    sorry, yes i should have been more specific. yes its the vonph. i am pretty casual so some basic ideas for a build is fine. i doubt ill ever do any super min maxing.

    it's been a year and all the new things is quite overwhelming.

    edit: also tips on how to play the ship :blush:

    thank you. that would explain why google searches came back empty. i admit i only recently learned it was a new ship :D
