only 1 aft weapon the lobi ship???? that's just confusing

I was just coming to ask about that. Is that a typo?

Not a typo. It's legit. She's a tough little ship.

I meet this news with mixed feelings. I mused a similar approach in a T6 BoP thread some time ago, course we all know the T^ upgrades don't change weapon layouts, despite it being one of the most effective ways to bring raiders back into parity with the newer 5 fore escorts. Chances of getting a second T6 BoP other than the B'rel are slim to non-existant unless geko has changed his attitude towards them.

Glad 5 fore weapon raiders are happening, unfortunate that the original raider of the game is unlikely to get the same treatment.

That is the single most disturbing thing I have seen on the net for a long time. And I've seen a lot of weird s**t.

The pinnacle of our efforts is undoubtedly the acquisition and refitting of a number of fearsome Herald starships, now capable of being manned and flown by the most worthy captains of the Alpha and Beta Quadrants.

    Blamo! Stats!

So reading this I just noticed there's no T5 "consolation" ship. Do you know if that's just for this lockbox or if it's going to be the thing moving forward?

Wow, Baltim Raider really disappointing. Doesn't come with the legendary ramming ability that people would LOVE to have, instead is given to the hanger pets in order for you to force people to buy more keys to get the ship instead of buying the Lobi ship. And 5-1 Weapons layout!? Seriously!? I get that it's a Raider so I got the flanking damage bonus, but those are T5 Raiders, this is T6! "Oh but you get a Starship trait" you say! Well I'm sick of that being the only excuse to making a ship T6! It's still weak as hell with a shield modifier under 1.0 compared to the Piloting ships that could easily kill this thing.

Surprisingly few comments in this thread, despite me waiting for people venting their frustrations (which also didn't quite happen).

Guess It's up to me to say it: Great, again some crazily OP new ships. Mind you, it would fit in flavor given how these ships should be way more advanced than whatever else we use, but still. It's just a sign powercreep is still going (running, perhaps) strong.

The Baltim raider is better in every aspect than its only sibling: Breen Plesh Brek raider. They're so far the only 'heavy raiders' with advanced flanking (and no cloaking possibility - though the Kazon one can't cloak either). Baltim has more shields, more hull, better turn, more front weapons. And thanks to being T6, it also gets specialization slots and a second Lt.Comm.

The Quas is not only a Flight deck cruiser, it also gets a sci ship like 1.3 shield mod and keeps a decent turn rate of 8. It barely sacrifices any hull for all that and still has a (almost mandatory it seems now) Lt.Comm. Tac and another Lt.Comm. being universal.

Oh, and both get a Lt.Comm. intel slot too.

I won't comment on the Vonph yet as I don't quite have all the Jem'Hadar dreadnought and Xindi-Aquatic Narcine stats in mind, but I don't doubt it's superior to both.
TOIVA, Toi Vaxx, Toia Vix, Toveg, T'vritha, To Vrax: Bring in the Allegiance class.
Toi'Va, Ti'vath, Toivia, Ty'Vris, Tia Vex, Toi'Virth: Add Tier 6 KDF Carrier and Raider.
    Tae'Va, T'Vaya, To'Var, Tevra, T'Vira, To'Vrak: Give us Asylums for Romulans.

Don't make ARC mandatory! Keep it optional only!

Would prefer seeing pieces of RE'd equipment (similar to the visual modifications Borg gear provides) instead of entire ridiculous ships like this that the playable factions have no business possessing, let alone flying.

Meanwhile, still not a single T6 BoP.

One time I referred a friend to try out this game. Played it for a couple days and then asked me so when do I get the part where its star trek.

In all seriousness though I am just wondering if they understand that doing the same thing over and over as they continue to lose customers that they need to I don't know maybe either get with the times or give the brand some love and get it to those who will do it justice.

Iconians never let us the possibility to have them.

It's a freaking game, get over it.

Now take my keys and give me my Iconian ships!!!!

Going to be the first to show "blatant" disappointment ("blatant" only being minor in this case). I'm sad they didn't make the Vonph a proper dreadnought battleship w/ the Solar Gate ability and the mini-Iaidon from Midnight the actual carrier dreadnought with the Oblivion Gate ability.

Aside from that, I'm looking forward to obtaining these ships and associated equipment. It's one of the few things I've been looking forward to as of late as far as STO goes. The others being Terran Rep, 2410 Mirror Uniforms, and the Omega-class Carrier being the only other things.

Anyone else a little confused by the bridge design? Seems like it's floating on nothing...
Not to spoil it, but have you played to the end of the Iconian story arc? You end up being transported to the Iconian flagship bridge, which basically looks like what's posted in the blog.
This should not be confusing or a surprise.

I agree, these new ships mix things up a little more stats wise in a good way.
5/1 on a raider is a nice move. 1.3 shields and 2x uni seats on FDC is welcome and the dread carrier also gets a nice shield buff and the seemingly now carrier default 4/3 weapons.

The 1.3 shield mod is nice, not sure it's the first, the Sheshar shares a similar rating, I consider it a FDC although I suppose it is technically classed as a dread.

Also, I'd like to see more tactically oriented FDCs. There's many eng heavy ones (of course, being cruisers, to be expected) and some with sci skews but none really with a decent tac skew. And the Quas is a good start, although the 5 eng, 3 sci, 3 tac console situation is a shame. Considering it has the bare minimum required engy boff compliment and a higher than typical (for FDCs) tac boff, a 4, 3, 4 config would've been more suitable.

The tactical T6 command FDC was ok but was still too heavy on the engineering boffs, the Sheshar had the right console setup but not LtC tac default.

LtC tac is nice but ideally I want to see a 4 tac boff ability setup on an FDC as default, with 4 tac consoles.
So either LtC + En, or Lt + Lt.
4 tac boff skills also keeps it less than battle cruiser class seating (5 tac skills).
Having 4 tac abilities makes them punchy without being OP and nicely would balance against the FDCs that have up to 7 engy slot default or 5 sci slots. Not much tac oriented ones.

Uni seats definitely help you make them what you like though, so the Quas can be tweaked ok (dual LtC tacs!), just like my sci command FDC which I run with 2x Lt tac seats which is a nice balance.

    Bwahahahahahahaha!

Can't wait to get my hands on these ships. Not looking forward to the Vonph probably going for 400+mil on the AH, but I have 300 mil saved up. So no big deal really.

All we have to do to use the raider hangars is own all three ships. That's all.

    Just all three.

That gave me a short chuckle.

Except not. Re-read it again and you'll see it says "These raiders are unlocked in their stores listed below as long as you own both a Herald Quas Flight Deck Cruiser or a Herald Vonph Dreadnought Carrier and a Herald Baltim Heavy Raider." One or the other carrier, plus the raider.
Lovely for them to include the JHDC/ JHAS like requirement BS for the pets.
