Missions: (Not entirely sure what you want me to put down here, tbh.)
Also, I'd like to be kept up-to-date if you're going to use this info.
Any other questions, feel free to contact me.
Thanks. The Federation delegation was starting to feel a little light compared to the KDF's so having an admiral on the staff should balance things out nicely.
The "missions" prompt is for characters that appear in one or more foundry missions (who have established dialog I can take a look at and get a sense for how to write for the character.) For player characters I'll be shooting for what's portrayed in player dialog options from Cryptic's missions unless that character's owner adds something else for their cameo (See. Slarg earlier in this thread.)
Major development updates you can find here. Once the foundry editor comes back online I'll be working on this episode in earnest and (assuming the foundry comes back in the relative near future) it should have a "before the end of the year" release. I'll definitely post (or direct message if you're more comfortable with that) cameo dialog as it's completed so you guys can take a look and make sure I'm handling it in the best way possible.
As a short note: what I intend with cameo dialog is to perform a given function for the story using a character from the community (which I'm very keen on to help keep up some community continuity between players and foundry missions) in a way that makes sense and is, hopefully, fun for everyone. For example, Guljarol's Commander Nayel (the Romulan representative, at the moment the big three powers don't have full ambassadors on this planet) is providing a Romulan perspective on events, background on how the Republic is coming along with negotiations, and a few responses that characterize the KDF-ROM relationship if the player selects the relevant dialog option. I'm planning something similar now with Admiral Yuuto as the forward Federation representative (with Starfarertheta's Amanda Atalanta providing...technical support and a different Federation viewpoint. More details definitely to come there...) but if you'd prefer something else definitely let me know.
Whatever it turns out to be, I'll provide a full update on your character's dialog once that "draft" is ready but I can't say now (particularly with no set date yet on the editor's return) exactly when Admiral Yuuto is going to be finished.
And as a general update for everyone: I have decided (see. current sig) that this will be the finale to the current SSF series. That means...things. Basically I can talk about the plot up to the maps shown (Boreth, Iffar recreation area, Ibi space station) but afterwards it's massive spoiler time. However that doesn't mean that cameos will end with the reception (then it's really a function of who works well for what purpose.) It just means the story here is going to...do things.
Also, don't feel (as some of you conceivably might) that the dialog up to the reception is just cameos and plot stuff. Normal (ie. like what Gemini, Entropy had) background and character dialog are very much a part of this mission. There will just be more going on with this one.

Gotcha.
Missions: N/A
I don't mind playing the lead for the Federation. I'm more than happy to oblige. Dialog for me would be serious but at the same time a bit playful (as in, he likes to crack a joke every now and again, but not to the point where every other line he says is meant to be funny.) Not sure as to how I'm supposed to bring up the slider display like the others have, as I'm unfamiliar with the procedure needed to do so. I can get them to you, but you have to let me know how to do it, first. Let me know if you want ship stats as well, along with builds/weapons/consoles, etc.
Direct message would be the best way to get in contact with me, as well as anything that will ping my notification tab.

I'll throw this update out to the thread just in case similar questions arise in future.
First of all, thanks for the character description (that will help a lot with writing.)
Secondly, The sliders people have been posting are screenshots either from the in-game tailor or the foundry editor. If you want me to be spot on then they'd definitely come in handy but if the general look is all you're really interested in seeing then I'm not too bad at roughly matching STO characters by eye. I can work around whatever you're most comfortable with.
As for ships, I haven't actually thought about ships too much, chiefly because if I do include custom ships in combat then there's a reasonable chance your character will explode during the mission (or alternatively completely swamp the enemy NPC's). All we can really do in the Foundry to make a custom ship is reskin NPC groups. There's no direct way to change weapons, health, gear, or other stats. There are also the same constraints on enemy NPC's, so in order to get a workable plot and balanced combat scenarios I really have to focus on what few parameters I have to play with in space. So the cameos are really focused on dialog. That may also include space maps, but working their own ship in (and keeping it out of combat) I feel is going to result in lots of clunky explanations (ex. busy with X, X system was offline, tribbles in the engine bay, ect.)
Your characters have basically arrived on their own vessel but the FED/KDF/ROM has other, more mundane (and potentially expendable) ships stationed near the planet (and given some changes that have occurred with local politics, top of the line warships aren't exactly welcome near the home planet.) But a ship name (and maybe class) could come in handy for dialog.

Ship name is U.S.S. Solidarity, Avenger-class Battlecruiser [T6]. I can get you a pic if you want further details.
As for character, feel free to try to eyeball it, and post the results so I can see if you're spot-on or missed the mark so much you hit the Ferengi in the background.
I don't have any major updates to post so I'm just going to blow raspberries until the foundry comes back online.
pppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppt
Anyway...how 'bout that weather? :P
Well OK I guess I can throw a minor update. Story arc outline is basically done and it'll require a minimum of 2 more elaborate custom ground builds in addition to the 3 in-progress builds shown so far. Add to that the need to do the writing, make the space maps, optional objectives, and combat sections and that puts the release of this at about 4 weeks after the foundry is back online. Prior to that I'll do some kind of story teaser but what that'll be exactly I can't say until I'm further along with work on the mission.
I'll just throw one thing out there: in my own head-canon this mission is actually taking place in 2413. You don't have to follow along with that yourself, I certainly won't be making a point of it, but for certain character arcs of mine to be properly resolved I need more implied time than is available in game right now.

The mission is coming along and I have my first bit of totally ready cameo conference dialog to throw out here for the respective character owner to take a look at. I'll be adding more of these (until the mission is done) to the thread here or to a private message depending on author presence. Make any and all suggestions you guys feel appropriate to your characters, again I do want to make these cameos as authentic as possible.
Also, these are quite variable, so if you're not Sutherland don't take this conversation as representative of what your character will be up to in the mission.

Is La'ox translating Breen? I like that Idea if she is. She does fly a Breen ship after all.

"Thot" is the Breen rank equivalent or greater... (obviously the latter) to a Cardassian Legate (Admiral ?) Caan is the Breen's name.
Going through some old notes on Caan...
He's married to an Ask'kaar called Caryatis.
He has a fear for Caryatis' hair dryer.
His task force is assigned to the Breen Embassy on a world within Ask'kaar Space.
He hates the Deferi.

Thot was just an identifier in the conversation doc, he has a proper intro text in game.
Personally I do like the play on Breen conversations in DS9 but what I could do for proper background is to have Caryatis in attendance as well. That or I could give Caan real dialog and shift something like this over to a miscellaneous alien delegate. Your call (total re-write would be absolutely no problem.)

Sure you can have Caryatis too. I'll attach sliders to this post when I make her character.
Notes: Married to and has a son with General Brokosh, a Lethean mercenary from the fringeworlds and commander of the Sixth Fleet (flagship IKS HoSbatlh, a Tor'Kaht-class), whom she met while working as chief engineer of a freighter, SS Shargrash, and later served off-and-on in the KDF with her husband. She was a member of a cadet branch of the House of Chel'tok (which is most of why she got away with marrying a non-Klingon: she wasn't in a direct line of succession to the House leadership, even if she wasn't a woman needing special permission to lead the House in the first place), but her grandfather Chel'tok, son of Mordak, was one of the High Council members killed by M'Tara in "Surface Tension" and the house's heir apparent, her cousin Kidu, son of Karrik, had died in the orbital battle. Ordinarily the succession would have gone to her husband, but putting a Lethean openly disrespectful of Klingon "honor" on the throne was an even more unpalatable idea than giving the job to a woman.
Name: Subadmiral Morgaiah ir’Sheratan ei’Fvahr ei’Salthos ei’Amallin t’Thavrau (Morgaiah t'Thavrau for short; the "ei'-whatevers" are various Rihannsu honorifics referring to her birthplace, a famous ancestor, and a major battle she won battlefield honors in)
Faction: Romulan Republic
Species: Romulan
Dialog: y
Reason for attending conference: Furthering diplomatic aims of the Republic, with some intelligence-gathering on the side. Also not opposed to enjoying herself while there, time permitting.
Business or pleasure: Business, with pleasure as a secondary.
Past experience with Ibi: Surprise me (but let me know what you have in mind before you finalize things)
Notes: Holding the rank khre'riov (translated as "commander-general" or "subadmiral") in the Romulan Republic Fleet, she served in the Romulan Imperial Fleet in the 2380s and lost her family in Hobus. She supports D'Tan's aims of creating and maintaining a democratic Romulan state but is against Unification. Nominally CO of RRW Bloodwing (a D'deridex-class warbird, ch'M'R Aen'rhien in Romulan), though also authorized to command a small squadron when the situation requires it, in which case she delegates command to her XO. She's minor nobility of a sort, being the grand-niece of an Imperial senator who died in Hobus.

Thanks! Those are some pretty neat backstories. I'll work on adding these two into the mission and I'll throw up screenshots when the in-mission character costumes are done (Morgaiah t'Thavrau is a really interesting choice for the Republic.)
As the mission is inching towards completion there's a lot of plot structure there now that's going to be harder and harder to re-write around for new characters. I can definitely add t'Thavrau to the Romulan delegation (easy choice for Republic's chief negotiator) but as the plot is getting rather complicated around the KDF's interest (and there are quite a few KDF characters already involved, potentially including the player) I can't promise that Ba'wov will have significant dialog (have to find an interesting angle which works around who's there already).
I think now (ie. this post) may be my cut-off for character cameo's that are directly involved with conference proceedings. It'll still be possible to add cameos until I hit the custom costume restriction (at 48/50 now...) but there's enough dialog established now that I don't want to have to keep going back with re-writes to existing characters whose roles have shifted with the new introductions.
Or more simply put the business option is now filled.
Anyway here's a full list of who I have so far and what's going on with their role in proceedings and an X mark if their dialog is nearing or is completed. I'll update this is as work progresses.
Federation
Amanda Atalanta - Advisor
Admiral Yuuto - Federation negotiator
Klingon Empire
La'ox - KDF negotiator
Slarg - The right Gorn and the right time - X
Ba'wov - Undecided
Other
Thot Caan - [Something Untranslated], Breen delegate
Gorgonops original Ask'kaar (at present) representative/Thot Caan chaperon
Tarkaram - Dyson Joint Command representative
A Dark Soldier - Undecided
Edit: Here's screenshots of Yuuto, Ba'wov, and t'Thavrau. Let me know if anything needs tweaking.

Looks pretty close but I'll get you the sliders, especially since I've changed Morgan over to the slim-fit pauldrons since that screenshot was taken. Also, she'd probably be wearing what I consider her dress uniform, which I made from the Embassy robes.
Bit of trivia, Morgan is supposed to look a little like a female version of Vreenak...
... because she may or may not be his illegitimate daughter.

So a bit more info on the dark soldiers. They use nearly monochrome color schemes because they see in different wavelengths and thus have a totally different concept of what color is. They're not actually humanoids, though they look similar. I'm treating R-3 lifeforms as being shaped like humanoids though inorganic. It's also the reason for the color choice. The Sheliak are black and kinda oily looking.
As for their society, I didn't go much in depth. All of the races that appear in the Fractal Nebula are there for different reasons. the dark soldiers are actually there as part of attempts at semi-peaceful expansion. There's actually two possible mission paths where you encounter them. One where they fight you, and another where they help you fight Gorgans. Apparently they don't see Gorgans the same way humanoids do, different eyes and all that....

I'll have to look into that mission when I get online tonight (title: Fractal Nebula?). There's a few different ways I could approach these guys right now.
1. Standard conference meet and greet (not sure if this would work for their temperament though.)
2. Encounter on later mission section (ship broke down, happen to be there on the planet.)
3. Sitting at Iffar cafe or by poolside...for unspecified reasons (could be an Easter-egg type thing).

@markhawkman: "May or may not be" as in Morgan doesn't know for sure and I'm never going to explicitly confirm or deny. It's certainly possible: her mother was chief of staff to Vreenak when Morgan was conceived, and Morgan suspects her mother Iliana was sparing a senator's honor by staying quiet about her paternity. But she has no way to find out for certain because any genetic records were lost in Hobus, as was Iliana.

SSF-4: Continuity (this mission!) is nearing its final stages of completion. That means that all the mission components are in, decoration is largely complete, it's playable from start to finish, there are no placeholders, and there's just a few bits I've got to fill in.
At the moment, that includes ceilings on two custom interior map spaces (always last thing I put on) and a good chunk of the cameo dialog. I'll be posting what I have of that sometime in the near future but as it is getting to be that time of the season I'll most likely wait until after Christmas to send the major stuff out for you guys to take a look at.
If there's anything else you think it would be neat/useful to include with your characters (in the context of this mission) let me know. We can always work in more stuff after my first go at it but I'd like to get this one done as soon as possible so I can work on SSF-5 in earnest.

I've gone over t'Thavrau again and I want to check this with Starswordc since it could be a good fit for the character. I do have access to the "Republic Dress Uniform" and tried it out with the color scheme from the original screenshot.
Tell me what you think and whatever changes need to be made. I could always go with the Embassy robes but I would need more screenshots/sliders for that.
Otherwise the mission is basically done except for playtesting and a few conversations. These include a couple side exchanges and three cameos: Artan's Lo'ax, Starswordc's Morgan, and Ichigawa's Yuuto. I'll be working on those and getting the other cameos into google docs for review (or just this thread if individual peoples are fine with that) over the next week so SSF-4: Continuity may be ready for release sometime right after the new year.
Thanks for the contributions.

Go nuts with the editing, again I want to do your characters right in this mission. If more significant edits are necessary let me know, I'll give it another pass. Otherwise I'll throw what you've tweaked back into the mission. If you're really not satisfied then, if willing, you can definitely write something else up yourself and we can include that instead. You'll see what I'm aiming for with your characters, I want to keep broadly within the same parameters. And if you're really not comfortable with how any of this turns out (or have since decided that you don't really want someone else writing for your character), then we can swap to a non dialog role instead.
Whatever works best, we'll find a way.
Thanks again, the rest will be updated here before the end of the weekend.

1. Sorry, typo/brain TRIBBLE. It's definitely Ishigawa in mission.
2. I haven't sent it yet. Yours and Starswordc's cameos are the last things that need work beyond mission polish and proofreading. Therefore they should be done soon. ...At this point I want to keep things simple (this ended up being a huge mission and it deals with politics) so writing for another established character isn't something I want to try tackling now (at the moment, my aforementioned brain can't handle it.)
I could be asked/bribed/tortured to try tackling it later, so you might consider this Ask'kaar a Caryatis placeholder until I've recovered from all the other writing I've had to do for this one, but it's really up to you which we include (either has good banter potential.)

As for character, feel free to try to eyeball it, and post the results so I can see if you're spot-on or missed the mark so much you hit the Ferengi in the background.

Anyway...how 'bout that weather? :P
I'll just throw one thing out there: in my own head-canon this mission is actually taking place in 2413. You don't have to follow along with that yourself, I certainly won't be making a point of it, but for certain character arcs of mine to be properly resolved I need more implied time than is available in game right now.

Also, these are quite variable, so if you're not Sutherland don't take this conversation as representative of what your character will be up to in the mission.

Is La'ox translating Breen? I like that Idea if she is. She does fly a Breen ship after all.
Norway and Yeager dammit... I still want my Typhoon and Jupiter though.
JJ Trek The Kelvin Timeline is just Trek and it's fully canon... get over it. But I still prefer TAR.

Romulan Republic
Commander Nayel - Strategic Advisor
Subadmiral t'Thavrau - Republic negotiator
Other
Thot Caan - [Something Untranslated], Breen delegate
Gorgonops original Ask'kaar (at present) representative/Thot Caan chaperon
Tarkaram - Dyson Joint Command representative
A Dark Soldier - Undecided
Edit: Here's screenshots of Yuuto, Ba'wov, and t'Thavrau. Let me know if anything needs tweaking.

If you want to make up your own "Ask'kaar" by all means. You cansay she's Caryatis' aid.
Failing that I'll send the sliders for Caryatis later on.
They're a neutral race similar to the Sheliak that I made up for one of my missions.
My character Tsin'xing
Looks pretty close but I'll get you the sliders, especially since I've changed Morgan over to the slim-fit pauldrons since that screenshot was taken. Also, she'd probably be wearing what I consider her dress uniform, which I made from the Embassy robes.
Bit of trivia, Morgan is supposed to look a little like a female version of Vreenak...
... because she may or may not be his illegitimate daughter.

My character Tsin'xing
I'll have to look into that mission when I get online tonight (title: Fractal Nebula?). There's a few different ways I could approach these guys right now.
1. Standard conference meet and greet (not sure if this would work for their temperament though.)
2. Encounter on later mission section (ship broke down, happen to be there on the planet.)
3. Sitting at Iffar cafe or by poolside...for unspecified reasons (could be an Easter-egg type thing).

If it is up, the last map has 4 possible ways it can go based on pseudo randomization.
Maybe just have them show up as random alien guests?

BTW, here's the Gorgonops original Ask'kaar (color may be a bit off with uniform)

1) Ishigawa, not Ichigawa. Not to nitpick, but if you're using the name, all I ask is that it's spelled right
2) In terms of dialogue, I've received nothing. Don't know if you haven't finished it yet or if you sent it and cyberspace gobbled it up. Just wanted to let you know where I'm at currently when it comes to cameo dialogue.
Any other questions or comments, feel free to ask/tell.
No... the colour looks spot on. You even got the arm pockets If you want Caryatis instead ... I'll mail you her sliders.
1. Sorry, typo/brain TRIBBLE. It's definitely Ishigawa in mission.
2. I haven't sent it yet. Yours and Starswordc's cameos are the last things that need work beyond mission polish and proofreading. Therefore they should be done soon. It's possible I could get them done today, depending on how much foundry time I have, but you'll definitely have something to review by the end of the week (if you don't see something, prod me again.) :P
...At this point I want to keep things simple (this ended up being a huge mission and it deals with politics) so writing for another established character isn't something I want to try tackling now (at the moment, my aforementioned brain can't handle it.)
I could be asked/bribed/tortured to try tackling it later, so you might consider this Ask'kaar a Caryatis placeholder until I've recovered from all the other writing I've had to do for this one, but it's really up to you which we include (either has good banter potential.)
