Tac Build that melts hulls.

So I want a build that melts hulls.

My skills are set for high damage etc but I'm looking for a good ship build that hits hard.

My beams are crit d x 3 mixed with either dmg, over or acc (mainly down to not wanting to wait for the holy grail of mods) all Mk 14 ur or epic.

So its what else can be done for the melting effect lol.

Can not afford a leech so I'm using the maco set for the same sort of effect.

Any and all help would be great.

Well, since you chose rom, pretty much any of the T6 ships can do that if set up right.
Though the pilot escorts are probably the top now, high firepower thanks to the 5/2 layout and high survivability thanks to their pilot maneuvers (couple seconds complete damage immunity and pretty short cooldown).
Then there are also the command cruisers, flying fortresses of beefiness and can still do some decent damage.
And after that there are the Morrigu, Jhu'ael, Faeth which all are pretty neat "escorts" with their own thing going for them.

Really mostly depends on your preferred playstyle but the choice of rom ships is pretty great at T6.

    Except for science..... :'(

Well the best is still a Tac Scimitar, but as for stuff that helps with the damage here are a few acquisitions.

-A singularity with the AMP mod, or if you are using Antiproton then the obelisk core works well too.

-As many Embassy plasma explosion consoles as you can cram onto the boat, or alternately the Research Lab Science consoles that boost all damage.

-The Romulan Rep Console boosts Crit rate.

-The Maco set is good for power levels, but I think that the 3 piece Iconian set still wins out in terms of raw damage. Dont quote me on that though, wait for someone who has crunched the numbers to verify.

-The Borg Console and Kinetic Cutting Beam combo

-Any console or piece of equipment that helps with power transfer rate ups dps. Same with anything that lowers weapon costs.

-Traits; The Rep traits that are good for damage are the Crit Chance from Rom, Crit Severity from Dyson, Auxiliary power offense from Nukara, bonus penetration from Delta. The ship traits are Reciprocity if you can get it on the exchange, All Hands on Deck from the Command Cruiser, and Emergency Weapon Cycling from the Morrigu. One of the pilot escorts has a trait that gives bonus penetration too, but Ive found that to be meh. YMMV.

-Boffs-As a Romulan you should have better access to Romulan Boffs. The ones that have the trait Superior Romulan Operative help a ton. Also if your toon is an actual Romulan then the Operative trait should be active.

-The trait from lvl 15 R&D beams is a nice damage boost

-Kemocite laced weapons, but good luck with that one if you can afford a Leech (I cant either if it helps)

My guess is that if your gear is UR or VR 14s then youve already done most if not all of these things. And you probably couldnt do all of these things on one ship/toon anyways, so more or less pick and choose, or wait for someone with actual data (or search the forums for it) if you truly want to min/max.

    Good Luck

Thanks guys for the feedback and this will help on my Rom tac (when I get to level her)

But this advice would be for a female alien fed tac.

Sorry should have said in my op.

Sorry, somehow I thought you were a rom, don't know where I got that from. Reading fail.

All the same things still apply save the ship choice and Boff Choice.

Also you can get a plasma integrated warp core. It has AMP and power transfer rate.

For Boffs you'd still want the Superior Romulan Operative from the embassy. Then you'd want the Hierarchy Boff from the Delta Rising storyline missions because he has both the efficient trait and the pirate trait.

For ships... The Pilot ships are probably the highest DPS Fed ships, but youd be running DBB up front and omnis in the rear to take advantage of its 5/2 layout. If youve already crafted up some regular beams then the highest DPS application for them becomes a bit murkier. Escorts with 5 tac consoles are good, but they sacrifice an aft weapon slot compared to the cruisers, but the cruisers have less tac consoles and less tac seating. The Phantom has intel gathering and Intel seating for OSS and Surgical Strikes. The Alita has a pet and the 2-piece console set boosts weapon damage. The Hestia has the separation gimmick which, along with the trait, can boost dps.

If youre willing to go outside of fed ships, both the Imperium and the Nandi have 5 tac consoles, a Commander tac seating, and 8 weapon slots.

No matter what, I'd say that equipment, traits, and console selection has a far larger impact on DPS than the ship choice, provided that youre choosing between ships that are in the same DPS ballpark. Running EPTW III, BFAW III, and APB, with active doffs that lower the cooldowns on those things are important, but most all of the ships listed above can do that. I guess it comes down to whether the difference between APB I and III, combined with the extra tac console is of greater benefit than an additional weapon slot. I think it is, and my guess is that theres data to support that.

Its far from clear what the issue is here, OP I think you need to say if you're willing or interested in getting another ship, what ships you've got, what gear and probably why its not doing what you'd like. The Eclipse, Arbiter and pilot ships are all great for blowing stuff up and each have a different playing style:
Eclipse 8 beam broadside quickish cruiser with in-built toys.
Arbiter frontal assualt cruiser with park and shoot for DBB or DHC
Pilot ship zooming around with whatever weapon type you like.

The original post is rather like saying 'fix my game', and the only things anyone else knows about your game is that you're not going to spend like crazy, fly Fed and want more damage. A problem here is the ship type can push wapon selection in a certain direction so you're nice guns might not fit a new ship very well.

As I learned recently, MACO is a decent replacement for Leech IF you get shot at a lot. In PUGs this means you need the attention. Save up for Leech, it's THAT good.

Current Meta declares the KCB/Console combo is actually detrimental to DPS (if you are chasing numbers).

Is that assuming that you have other power cost reduction equipment or traits, or under any circumstance? I know the KCB loses to a beam under BFAW or against shields, I'm wondering if its the case where you can push the damage of a regular beam so far beyond the KCB that it out damages the setup even with the full effect of the 2-piece proc.

Maybe under any circumstance. Since high EPS is a part of the meta, then it's really about getting (weapon) power back faster to maintain more consistent damage output over time. Having said that, since the KCB is not affected like regular weapons, it's a good starter weapon (so to speak). Otherwise, for a cruiser, an 8th beam > KCB. The console is decent by itself, but others trump it in the long run.

    In other words:
I'm wondering if its the case where you can push the damage of a regular beam so far beyond the KCB that it out damages the setup even with the full effect of the 2-piece proc

    That's my understanding and experience.

KCB and Borg tractor beam when used together also has a mild damage increase not much and not anything to write home about but its something to consider while building a better setup.
