The Neutral zone is missing?!?

Hello Readers,

I'm trying to find out why that such a important part of the beta Quadrant history is not shown on the map. Even old star bases Remain on the map to show history, So Why not the Neutral zone? Both the Romulan Federation and klingon's had there issues with this area but Lives was lost on all The Sides of the border should not be forgotten or erased astrometrics can recreated this area zone only to show respect to the fallen who have lost there lives defending, securing, and exploring this region.

Thanks Readers for your time!

That's kind of a complicated issue. The main factions in the game have histories with two neutral zones, of varying legitimacy. There exists a Klingon neutral zone, which existed in more or less official capacities through out Trek canon, and remains in the game as a strip of space in the Beta Quadrant, roughly running a straight line between Deep Space Station K-7 and Gandala Station. The more famous Romulan neutral zone is a little harder to place, but probably ran (very roughly) from Ponor to Khitomer; with the effective fall of the Romulan Star Empire, this Neutral Zone plays only a limited roll in current politics.

As for why they're not more clearly indicated on the map, it probably has to do with their effective erosion in the current political climate. Both sides have fairly well colonized the old Romulan Neutral Zone, and the current Klingon Neutral Zone (no longer even current in 2410) was drawn through inhabited space as a largely (if not purely) military border. To have astrometrics call out zones of those sizes that don't really affect the current environment would probably be confusing.

because it doesn't exist anymore. There is no point in having it.

Since the Romulan empire fell and the klingons declared war on the federation the neutral zone just simply ceased to be neutral, after that all 3 factions formed an alliance so there was no need to bring the neutral zone back.

Less we not forget, there was also at one point, a Cardassian/Federation neutral zone as well!

And the Cardie neutral zone ceased to exist in DS9.

STO does have some neutral zones. The Celestial Temple is one. There might be one with the Breen too.

Thought that was a demilitarized zone (DMZ). Similar, but different. Actually, they're all different, come to think of it, but I don't think the post-Cardassian War buffer was called a Neutral Zone.
