It's could very much be a money maker! Players just require more customization options to personalize our ship interiors, from various captain & crew quarters to numerous other rooms on various decks. If we only had more reasons to visit, by ourselves, with friends, and a way to show off our ship interiors to the community.
I suggested some great idea's above. A Doctor where a Captain can get healed after an away mission like at ESD. User in the thread suggested a poker game where up to 5 players could sit around a table to wager Gold Pressed Latinum. If only the Ferengi or Risa NPCs would offer a few expanding and more interesting GPL rewards.
Bridges just aren't as big a deal for me anymore. Other than for the ultra rare times for vanity, they're not really used. No gameplay of any significance requires you to use your bridge because the game is based on an external view for space combat. Nobody cares what trophies you have in your ship. Nobody cares what bridge you're currently using. The gameplay doesn't care because it was never designed with an interior focus in mind.
Nobody cared about the Voth, Xindi, Vaadwaur, Intrepid, etc. interiors after the novelty of seeing them the first time wore off. Even the fabulously well done Romulan interiors, they're of little importance because the game has no purpose for ship interiors.
It's one thing if STO was played as if we were inside the ship all the time but that's not how the game is.
Edit: Cryptic gave up on bridges long, long ago. They used to have a bunch put into the C-Store but those did poorly. All those bridges in the C-Store are from around 2010-2011 time frame. Crytpic has put in a few bridges since then but not like they used to.
i cared about the bridges just wil never see them due to the fact they are in lockboxes that i will NEVER open ever again. i just want a semi decent fed ship interior and i will be sooo happy
I think DEVELOPERS should consider a customizable FED, ROM, KDF Faction bridge & interior as one of the BENEFITS or VALUE add for purchasing or using a FACTION starship. I think ALOT more would go to their bridges & interiors if we also had more reason to with more customization. I've identified those idea's in the PRIMARY POST above with the link to the ORIG THREAD. I know others in the FEDERATION, KDF or ROMULAN threads have also expressed interest, most just don't want to talk about it cause they think Cryptic has given up.
I still use bridge interiors and I do get a kick out of some of the unique ones I've got (Belfast bridge, Voyager bridge) and the Prometheus bridge matches my T6 Prometheus as well.
In terms of utility I like being able to click 'go to bridge' and having access to doffs and account bank wherever I am (especially if i'm out in the middle of nowhere). But that's about all it's good for.
